Be it known that I, Cnns'ren- R. LAWRENCE, :i-citizen of the United States. residing at Roxbury, in the county of Sutlolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and'useful Improvements in Safety-Razors, ofwhich the following is a specification,

My invention relates to improvements in safety-razors, in which the blade holder and the handle are so constructed thatthe blade may be moved lziterallyu-nd may also be adjusted to any desired an le with the handle.

The principal object o the inventionds to. provide a safety-razor of improved construction, adapted toproduce improved results in practical use by providing a blade holder which may be quickly removedfor cleaning f and easily adjusted to any desired lateral position with respect to the handle so that the blade will have a slantwise oroblique cuttin motion, and also the angle of the blade older may, be varied as desired, but is preferably placed parallel with the handle, thus permitting the edge of the bla dc to engage the hair at a right-angle therewith..

Another ob'ect is to provide a blade with the corne s o the cuttmgedge rounded, as a means of protection in shaving especially when-the blade holder is placedin an oblique or slantwise position.

A further object is to provide a handle with a. hooked end for use in aiding the sis -. particular form of blade holder, but I. do

I am aware that various types of safetyrazors have been invented employing various means for holding the blade, also various forms of handles, and. I do not claim any claim the novel means of adjusting blades in oblique positions in relation to the handle, also the improved handle, finger-controller and thumb-steadierand the related parts specifically shown and described herein,

which are applicable to nearly all safetyrazors.

The invention consists in the combination of elements and in certain parts of novel construction entailed in the combinationof said elements to obtain the desired result.

This method of attaching the stud 5 to the handle 6 permits the blade'liolder to be placed at any desired angle or position, as illustrated in outline in Fig. 2. and fastened by the clampingscrew 7. I do not limit myself to the particular method herein shown of attaehin' the handle to the blade holder to seeure oalique positions of the blade with relation to the handle as the handle may be pivoted ventrally or otherwise to the back of the holder.

In operation the blade 10 is placed in the blade holder 1 as illustrated in Fig. 1, and the stud 5 may then be adjusted and t'as 'ened by the clamping-screw 8, so as to give the blade holder amt blade the angle desired. The blade holder may then be moved either toward or from the handle on the stud 5 to the position desired and turned to the desired sla-ntwise er oblique position and then secured by the thumb or elampingserew 4. j

The position preferred of theseveral parts is shown in Fig. 2 with the plane of the blade parallel with the handle, in whieh position the blade lies flat against the face and the edge of the blade cuts the hair at: right angles, thereby cutting the hair more easily and quiekly than can be done with safety-razors in which the blade is placed at an a=:ute angle with the face. In holding the ray'or the e'rook t) and the stud 5 serve to aid the lingers in guiding the movement of the handle and in preventing the hand from slipping on the handle when in use.
