Description

lntml gitane @anni @Mine- Letters Patent No. 93,216, dated August 3, 1869.
IMPROVED PRINTERS GALLEY-REST.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and useft-he same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,.forming part vof this specification. This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in the method of holding or supporting the prooi'- eorrecting galley in printing-cineos; and consists in attaching to the sides' of the case-stand an adjustable galley-rest, constructed and arranged as hel'einafter more fully described.-
In the accompanying sheetof drawings- Fignre 1 represents a sectional sidc elevation of ease-stand, with my galley-rest attached, showingit.-
aswhen adjusted for use, and also as when turned back out of the way, the latter view (with the stand and case) being shown in red color, the section being on the line a' :v of iig. 2.
Figure 2 is a front view ofthe rest, attached to the case-stand.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the case-stand.
B is the type-case. y
C represents the galley-rest, which consists of a bracket, D, at each side of the stand, which are connected together by the rods E.
On the top of the brackets F there is fastened a metallic strap, on .end of which, y, hooks over on to the case, or on to an upward-projecting lip on the stand, as seen at h.
The other end of the strap is turned up, as seen at t'.
The twol ends, g and t, form guards for the galley, when placed on the brackets or rest.
The legs of the brackets are conned to thc stand by means of recessed slotted bars, j, which are fastened to the inside of each of the front legs of the stand.
On the lower ends of the bracket-legs there are buttons fast in the legs, (seen at 0,) the heads of which enter the recesses in lthe bars, while the necks or shanks of the buttons may slide up and .down in the slots.
The play given .the rest by means of these slotted bars allows it to be placed in the position seen in tig. 1, under the case, and out of the way, when not required for supporting the galley.
By the use of this rest, the inconvenience and trouble experienced by printersl 011 account of the galley is avoided.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In combination with the stand and case A B, the adjustable galley-rest C, arranged and operating substantially as herein shown and described, for the purposes set forth.
The above specication of my invention signed by me, this 12th day of April, 1869.
