Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OEErcE.
JOHN MGWILLIAMS,v OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
IMPROVED DIE-HOLDER FO-Rv SCREW-PRESSES.
To all lwhom it may concern: s
Be it known that I, JOHN MoWILLIAMs, of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented an Improved Die-Holder for Presses; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and eX- act description, reference being had tp the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specilication.
The nature ofniy invention consists in the use or employment of a sliding piece moving in a slot and swiveling slightly upon the end of a central screw in securing the die in a dieholder.
Figure 1 represents an end view. Fig. 2 represents a top view. Fig. 3 represents a side view. v
A is the sliding piece, moving looselyr in the slot a of the frame B and operated by the screw .0, which may be secured to the sliding piece by the pin c, passing into a groove near the end The die is to be placed over the hole D. Then as the sliding pieeeA is screwed up it swivels' upon. the end ofthe screw and adjusts itself to any inclination in the sides ot' the die.
Heretot'ore the die-holder in common use has been made solidand'the die driven in from one side as a wedge; but by this improvement a great deal of labor is saved, as the dies ,need not be tted so carefully as heretofore, and they are more readily adjusted in their places.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
.lhe combination of the slotted frame B, sliding piece A. and central screw, C, the latter being connected to the jaw A, in the manner substantially as described.
JOHN MOWILLIAMS.
