SAFETY RAZOR BLADE PACKAGE. APPLIOATIAON FILED JULY 27, 1907; RENEWED JAN. 25, 1909.
Patented Aug. 24,4909.

SAFETY-RAZOR BLADE PACKAGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed. July 27, 1907, Serial No. 385,846. Renewed January 25, 1909. Serial No. 474,156.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrn KAUFMAN, a. citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety-llazor-Blade Packages, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to safety razor blade packages and the object of my invention is to provide a new and improved package in which the blade is held in such a manner that its cuttin edge cannot be injured or drilled, is fully protected and the entire blade is securely protected from the: influences of moisture and is thus protected from the influences of rust or other oxidation and persons handling packages containing the hhnles are not apt to out themselves or to mar, injure or deface the cutting edge of the blade while handling the packages.
In the accompanying drawings, in which like letters of reference indicate like parts in all the figures: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the blade and the receiving slip, detached. Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view through the blade and the receiving slip. Fig. 3 is a. face view of the blade and receiviiig slip in the waxed paper envelop. Fig. t is a perspective view of the completed package Fig. 5 is a central traits-wise. sectional viewthrough the completed package, exaggerated.
The safety razor blade A has a'thickened back ll forming a longitudinal shoulder C on each side Face of the blade. The blade is inserted in a flattened paper slip l) of just sntlicient length to receive the blade and of such width that when the shoulders C of the blade rest upon the upper edges of the .slip l) the cutting edge of the blade will be held about one eighth of an inch, inore or less, from the opposite open edge of the slip and this cutting edge is thus, by the edges of the paper slip protected from injury even if the slip is placed forcibly on its bottom Patented Aug. 24, 190 9.
into a waxed paper envelop F, the edges and ends of which are folded over the blade and slip and then a sealing and retaining band G is placed around the envelop.
I am aware that various types of metal blade retainers 0r receptacles have been devised for holding Safety razor blades until they are required and I am also aware that safety razor blades have been packed in paper'enve'lops of various kinds.
Having described my invention what'I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
' The combination with a safety razor blade having longitudinal shoulders, of a' paper slip of much greater length than width and open at the top and having closed ends, the blade being inserted into the slip. the shoulders of the blade resting on the upper edges of the slip and the cutting edge of the blade being a shortdistance inward from the bottom edge of the slip, and an envelop surrouiuling the blade and slip, and a retaining and sealing band surrounding the envelop, substantially as set forth.
Signed at. New ,York city in the countyijof New York and State of New York this 19th day of July A. D. 15707.
