BOTTLE FOR TEETHING LIQUIDS AND OTHER LIQUIDS OR MATERIALS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 30, 1908.
Patented Aug. 24, 1909.
Serial No. 465,135.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE JAMES Brown, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 15 Harley street, London, England, have invented a new or Improved Bottle for Teething Liquids and other Liquids or Materials; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new or improved bottle for teething liquids or other liquids or materials.
The object of the invention is to provide a bottle from which the contained teething or other liquid or material may readily be caused to adhere in a small quantity to the finger of one hand while the other hand or arm may be employed for holding the child, and the teething liquid may then be rubbed on the gums or teeth of the child with the free hand without the necessity of using two hands to obtain the contents of the bottle.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1, represents a perspective View of the improved bottle, andFig. 2, represents a cross section through the plane A. B. Fig. 1.
In carrying the invention into effect I provide a bottle of a square formation in cross section having four sides a, a, a a and two of the sides a, a, thereof are made slightly concave so as to be adapted to receive the fingers, and the orifice b, may be fitted with any suitable cork, stopper or the like.
When it is desired to use the teething liquid contained in the bottle all that it is necessary to do is simply to place two of the fingers on the two concave sides a, a, and one finger over the orifice b, after the cork or stopper has been removed, and when the bottle is tilted or turned upside down a small quantity of the teething liquid contained therein will adhere to the finger which can be rubbed on the gums or teeth of the child which may be held in the other arm or hand, and by the use of my improved bottle one person can hold the child in one arm and manipulate the bottle and use the contents with the other.
The base of the improved bottle may be made somewhat larger than the top part thereof as shown, so that it will not be liable to be easily knocked over by accident, and the top part 0, around the orifice is made concave so as to be adapted to fit the finger.
It will be understood that the shape of the improved bottle may be modified without departing from the invention and the outside surfaces may be made ornamental, and the bottle may be made square or oblong in cross section, and may be made of glass, china, or any other suitable material.
Claims.
1. As an article of manufacture, a bottle 7 having a flat bottom, sides adapted to be held firmly by the user, and a transversely curved substantially horizontal plate closing the top, and provided with an opening at the base of the curved portion of said top, substantially as and for the purposes described.
2. As an article of manufacture, a bottle substantially rectangular in cross section, and tapering from the bottom toward the top, provided with a curved diaphragm i11- tegral with the sides of the bottle and closing the top thereof and having a perforation in the curved portion of said top, substantially as and for the purposes described.
3. As an article of manufacture, a bottle substantially rectangular in cross section, and tapering from the bottom toward the top, two of the opposite sides of said bottle being curved to fit the thumb and a finger of the hand of the user, the said bottle being provided with a curved diaphragm integral with the sides of the bottle and closing the top thereof and having a perforation in the curved portion of said top, the curved portion of said diaphragm being located between the two curved sides of the bottle to fit one of the fingers of the user, substantially as and for the purposes described.
