IMPROVEMENT IN OIL-CANS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern n Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. JENKINS, of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga, and State of New York,

have invented certain new and useful'mprovement-s in Oil-Cans; and I do hereby Adeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, and inwhich is represented a longitudinal section of my oil-can.

My invention relates to improvements in oil-cans;

and to this end,

It vconsists inV the employment, in an ordinary'oilcan, of a tube provided with Aa spiral spring, in combination with a' curved rod attached to the cork, the object of which will hereinafter be fully set forth.

To enable others skilled `in the art to which my 'invention appertains, to make and use the same, I

To spring a is attached the rod b, curved at its upper end, and entering the cork d,as seen in the draw- D represents the can-spout.

By this arrangement, it will behseen that the cork is always kept air-tight in the can.` All that it is necessary to do, in order to pour out the oil, is to press up the rod b, which removes the cork suiicient-ly to allow the oil to pass out of the spout.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent isn oil-can, consisting of top A, tube B, spiral spring a, rod b, and cork d, all combined, arranged, and operating substantially in the manner and for the -purpose described.
