BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 10, 1909.
Appllcatlon'flled June 26, 1908. Serial No. 440,296.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. DUNN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attloboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improvement in bottles or containers and consists in forming the bottle in two parts from pa )er or like material.
he object of this invention is to form a Water-proof container that can be easily dostroyed after use.
A further object is to construct the container cheaply.
In the de ivery of milk or other substances a glass jar or container is used. It is well known that disease is often propagated through the carelessness of the arties using such containers in that the neg ect'to properly sterilize the same. ith the use of m. container, after the contents are remove the same can be readily disposed of by burning.
My invention consists in the peculiar and novel details of construction, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of the container,,showing the body portion and thebottom. Fig. 2 is a view of part of the bottom on the line a a of Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the bottom section of the contallic rivets, the heads 0 tainer, and Fig. 4is a perspective view of the bottom section of the container.
The container is formed of aper or'other easily destructible material. he body portion 5 may be formed on a mandrel of suitable shape by winding strips of pa er on the same, or the body portion may e formed from paper pulp with the head 6 and the projecting pins 7 7 These pins 7 7 may be me which are inserted of the same. he bottom ortion 8 is formed of paperor similar materia with the slots 9 9, so that when the bottom is forced onto the body portion the pins 7 7 will enter the slots 9 9, when,on a artial rotation of the bottom, the same will he firmly unitedto the body portion.
Head 6, above mentioned is formed on the neck of body 5, the outer end of the neck being turned outwardly at right angles as at 10, to the longitudinal axis of the bod being thence turned upwardly to lie para el with the said axis as at 11, and thence being turned over inwardly and finally downwardly as at 12, to have its free edges seat on the right-an ular portion 10. The parts 11, and 12, it w' 1 be noted are in spaced relation.
The container is simple in construction and can be manufactured cheaply.
Having thus described my invention, I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A container composed of a body ortion, the lower end of which is open, a nec at the upper end of said body, said neck at its outer en being turned outwardly at ri ht angles to the longitudinal axis of the ody and thence upwardly to lie parallel with said axis and being then turned over inwardly and finally downward] to have itsfree edge seat on saidriglht angu ar portion at points intermediate t e inner and outer ends of said right anglular portion, and a closure for the lower on of said body. 7
In testimony" whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
