Letters Patent No. 92,888, lated July 20, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN SULK'Y LAND-ROLLERS.
The Schedule referred to in these LettezsPatent and making part of the same.
To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER SCHMITT, of Stewartsville, in the county of De Kalb, and State of Missouri, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Sulky-Rollers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being lhad to the annexed drawings, making apart of this specification, and to the letters and igures of reference marked thereon.

My invention relates to means for rolling the surface of the ground; and
It consists mainly in a novel airangementof devices intended to serve asv eiicient means for the purpose mentioned.
My apparatus consists of three rollers arranged and connected with a neap and cross-head in the manner represented on iig. 1 of the drawings', and marked respectively A and B. l
The roller A is attached to the cross-head in the usual manner with such devices, but the means used in connecting the rollers B therewith, are novel in this, namely: s

At the rear ends of rods I), respectively, I aix a staple, c, and pass through such staples the pins s.
Said pins also pass through the eyes fv of the rollerapparatns between the lips of the staples c, thereby pivoting the rollers B t0 the rear ends of the rods D.
My method of pivoting the rollers to the rear ends of rods D, instead of pivoting said rods to the crosshead, asis usually done, possesses the advantage of keeping the rollers in the saine track, instead of allowing them to swing sidewise to a great distance,.while at the same time it preserves for them al1 the benefits o a side or oscillating movement.
What'I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-
The ground-rolling apparatus herein described, having rollers A and B connected with the cross-head,
