This invention re ates, generally, to improvements in sanitary devices or appliances adapted for use in wat n=closets and urinals and Constructed to hold or retain in place a suitable disinfecting device or a 'iplianee which is especially adapted for use in )n]le(.' tion with the bowl or hopper of a watereloset.

The disinfectant balls or tablets 20 can be inserted in place, from time to time as required, by forcing them between the coils of the holders 18 and 19, without removingthe disinfectant holder or a pliance from within the bowl or hopper. 'l. 0 device or appliance can also be easily removed, when desired, from its operative position within the bowl or hopper, for cleansing the same when this becomes necessary.

1.11 Fig. 5, I have shown another form of bowl or hopper, as 21.,which has a circular sectional conformation, and is provided with a centrally disposed outlet 22 and a 'sideflush or water-inlet 23. In this case, the disinfectant-holder or appliance comprises a single strip or band 24, usually a piece of wire, having its end-portions 25. and 26 slidably and adjustabl or connecting-mom er27,inthe same manner as hereinafter set forth, a single and spirally coiled disinfectant-holder or element 28 encircling the said band or strip 24in the manner represented in said Fig. 5 of the drawings. From the foregoing description of my present invention, and from an inspection of the several figures of the drawings, it will be seen constructed, as well as an eilective disini'celtl ant-holder or appliance, which is flexible so as to be applied to the inner contour of" the connected with a union flush-out bowls or hoppers of water-closets, the arrangement and construction of the disinfectant-holding or retaining member or members being such, so that a perfect sanitary arrangement is provided, and the disinfectant-balls, tablets, or the like, are kept away from the bottom of the bowl or hopper, so that the disinfecting material is not flushed into the outlet of the bowl or hopper, with each flushing-out operation of the same.

While 1 have described my novel form of disinfectant-holder or appliance in connection with a bowl or hopper of a water-closet, and in which connection I prefer to use the same, it will also be evident that my novel form of disinfectant-holder or ap hence can just as readily be used with the owls of urinals.

I 'am aware that some changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations of the devices and parts, as Well as in the details of the construction of the same,

without departing from the scope of my present invention as set forth in the foregoing specification, and as defined in the appended claims. Hence I do not limit my present invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the devices and parts as described in the foregoing specification, nor do l'conline myself to the exact details of the construction of the said parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

I claim 1. The combination with the bowl of a watei -closet, of a disinfectant-holder within said bo'wl consisting of a strip, said strip being provided with a pair of wardly extending retaining portions, and a. laterally extending connecting portion between said bent and forwardly extending retaining portions, said strip having free ends,

and a connecting means between the free ends of said strip.

2. The combination with the bowl of a water-closet, of a disinfectant-holder within said bowl consisting of" a strip, said strip being provided with a air of bent and forwardly extending retaining erally extending connecting portion between said bent and forwardly extending retaining portions, said strip having free ends, and a tubular connecting member to which said free ends are. connected.
