Since the i'eeeptmlo is disposed verliriilly lill) are electrically energized only when it is desired to draw hot water from the faucet and therefore faucet 5 may be used, alternately, for drawing either heatedor coldwater.
In order that water may not pass outwardly of screw-plug 15, I employ the pack- 'ing 32 dis osed intermediate said plug and head 13. laziternally upon plug 15 are seated non-conductinoi washers 33; and between washers 33 and plates 31 are seated metallic washers 34, and an electric current may be conveyed. from the resistance coil the entire length of rods 22, Washers 3 3 preventing an electrical contact of said rods with plug 15.
Chamber 8 has a greater diameter than the bore of casing 6, in order that it may contain head 13, this head requiring a suiiicient diameter to provide a seating for the heads of bolts 22, outwardly of stem 12.
It will be noted that bolts 22 operate to iirmly .connect screw-plug 15 and head 13, also that they operate as conductors between wires 30 and wire 24. l
I provide the screw-cap 35, apertured at A 36 for passage therethrough of wires 30, and
having interior threads formed in its rim to connect with the threaded wall 18 between facets 17 of the screw-plug. The cap* after being operatively placed makes contact of its rim with the upper side of the screw-plug, as shown in the drawing, and operates as an ornamental feature to present a finished appearance to the receptacle. It also operquires to be cleaned occasionall ates to prevent accumulation of dust upon -the electricallyV contacting parts upon the screw-plug, and prevents accidental or personal injuries .which might otherwise occur from handling the metal or electrical contacts. Also theV cap operates to revent water being. thrown upon the metalic contact parts, from use of the faucet.
On account of sediment accumulating in the casing,
and it will bel seen that the herein descri ed heater is especiall designed for convenient disassem; bling.` accountv of the limited length of threads upon portions 18 of the screw-plug there is only a slight frictional contact, and
35 may be readily rotated, no wrench being inquired for the removal of said cap. By use of a wrench applied to facets 17 the 4screw-plug insulatedly .means for longitudinally adjusting a water heater of this class rescrewplug together with core 11 may be re. i i moved from receptacle 1; or, by `vuse of a'- wrench applied to facets 37, at the lower end g of the receptacle, the entire device may -be removedr from water pipe 4', for cleaning purposes or otherwise. i
On account of the compact form an limited 4number of parts, the herein described water heater is eective for the purposes required,r does not easily get .out of order, and, comparatively, is economical in construction.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,- 3 f 1. In a water heater, the combination with a receptacle having an lintake andan exit way, and a screw-plugv for closing one end of the receptacle, of a noneconducting sup' porting core within the receptacle, said core having metallic conductors seated thereon and traversing the screw-plug; a resistance coil mounted upon said nonconducting supporting core and having terminals in communication with4 said metallic conductors;
exterior conducting wires in communication with the metallic conductors; means for longitudinally adjust-ing the metallic conductors for causing a pressure of the nonconducting core upon the screw-plug.

In combinat1on, a water heater as described, comprising a metallic rece tacle having an intake and an exit way an prolvided with a screw-v lug for closlng one of its ends; a non-con ucting supportmgcore within the receptacle'having one of its ends seated upon the screw plug; metallic 'rods having their inner ends mounted upon the supporting core, said rods 4vtraversing the for a mounting of their opposlte' ends u on the outer side thereof; a resistance coi mounted upon said core and having terminals in communication with the inner ends of said metallic rods; exterior conductin wires in communication with the outer engls of said metallic rods;
the metallic rods for causing a pressure o the nonconducting core upon the screw-plug.

A water heater, Lpoinprisinof. a metallic, tubular casing havinga longitudinally apertured, metallic screw-plug mounted in one of its terminals, its opposite terminal being provided with an intake; a 'non-conducting head seated upon the screw-plug; a longitudinal stem supported by said head land disposed within said tubular casing; nonconducting washers seated upon and circumscribing the apertures of said screw-plug; conducting rods exteriorly of the screw-plug traversing theapertures thereof and traversL ing saidnon-conducting washers, the inner ends ofsaid conducting-rods being mounted -upon the non-conducting head; a resistance coil upon said longitudmal stem having a fio llO
eeeies connection of its ends with said conducting' e ing having an inlet and Outlet7 an apertnred closure plug removably seated in the casing and having facets formed on its side with threaded portions intermediate said facets; non-conducting washers seated upon and circumscribing 'the apertures of said screwplng; a non-conducting core in the casing having a naked Wire coiled thereon with terg-O minals, and provided with an annular enlargement at its upper end; metallic rods mounted upon said annular enlargement, of the non-conducting core, said rods'being in. communication With the terminals ot the coiled Wire and traversing said apertures and non-conducting Washers to a mounting upon said closure plug; conducting Wires in communication with said metallic rods; said metallic rods being. adjustable to canse a pressure of said annular enlargement o'l the non-conduetingcore upon the closure plug; and a housingcap having a rim removably secured upon and intermediate the 'facets ot' and to overhang said closure plug.
