To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MATILDA PAoH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake wood, in the county of Ocean and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pillow-Sham Holders and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to pillow sham holders and has for an object to provide a device of the class adapted to be secured to a .metal bed of ordinary construction and to support pillow shams therefrom.

A further object of the invention is to provide a band adapted to embrace the post of a metal bed and to carry impaling points upon which a pillow sham may be suspended.

A further object of the invention is to pro- Vide an elastic band adapted to embrace the post of a metal bed having at one end a securing means, one portion of which is an impaling point and at the opposite end an opening or eyelet adapted to engage upon the securing means.

With these and other objects in view, the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the drawings :Figure 1 is a perspec tive view of a metal bed with the improved sham holder applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the improved sham holder in operative position but removed from the bed. Fig. 3 is a view of the sham holder extended. Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view of the elastic band taken on line 4 1 of Fig. 3 showing one means for connecting the se curing means.

It is well known that the ordinary sham holder is adapted for connection with a wooden bed and to be screwed or otherwise permanently secured thereto and is not adapted for use with a metal bed. In the present invention a band 10 is provided of any a proved material preferably elastic althoug not limited to such elastic material as any form of band may be employed. The band may be of such length as to properly embrace the post of the bed upon which it is to be used if made of non-elastic material or of elastic material as of such length to stretch to embrace the post and to be held thereon by the elasticity of the band. To secure the band to the post one end is provided with an opening or eyelet 11 while the opposite end is provided with a securing means 12 substantially in the form of a flat head paper fastener which may be con nected with the band in any way as by being inserted through a portion of the material as 13 and the extremity of the material returned and sewed or otherwise secured as indicated at 14 to form a hem 15.

The band is provided with an upwardly projecting impaling point here shown as at 16 and as forming a part of the securing means 12. It is to be understood, of course, that any other means for attaching an upstanding impaling point will be as serviceable as forming the impaling point as a part of the impaling means but the means illustrated is found to be the most economical and generally satisfactory.

In use the pillow sham illustrated at 17 is suspended upon the impaling points by simply inserting the points through the fabric of the sham the band being moved upwardly or downwardly upon the post of the bed to secure the proper elevation. Then the sham is not employed upon the bed the impaling point may be moved out of position by simply rotating the band upon the post thereby turning the impaling points to the back or side as may be more convenient and safe.

What I claim is 1. In a device of the class described, a band having at one end an opening, and a securing member at the other end adapted to be inserted through the opening and hav ing one end formed into an impaling point.

2. In a device of the class described, an elastic band provided at one end with an opening, a securing member carried by the other end of the band adapted to be inserted through the opening and having one member sharpened to produce an impaling point.
