- To all whom it may concern:

Be, it known that I, Ilnnnnur N. Bnnnn MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, county of Milwaukee, .and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supports for Bazor-Strops, of which the following is a specifictition.

My invention relates to improvements in supports for razor strops and straps of other flexible material, such as emery cloth, etc., used for sharpening edged tools.

The object of my invention is to provide means for supporting articles of the de scribed class at any desired tension, the supporting frame being collapsible and the strap of leather or other abrasive material may be reversed in position by detaching the same at one end and connecting it to another part of the frame in'a different positionof adjustment.

In the following description reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which the'figure is a erspective view of a device embodying'my invention. i Two rectangular frames A and B are centrally pivoted together at C, the lower ends D and E being adapted to rest upon a table or other suitable support and the upper ends of the frames being connected by a flexible strap orband F, which is preferably permanently securedto' metallic hooked end members G and-G, which are adapted to en- I gage the u per ends of the frames. The stra F holds the frames in a raised position, as il ustrated in the drawings, by connecting their'u per ends and holding them at a distance fi'om each other less than the total length of the two frames as measured from the-pivoted points to their respective ends.

To reverse the stre as to bring the ,under side uppermost, 11. 1s unhooked from the frame, at one end and swung pivotally around the remaining connected end and attached toone of the foot pieces D (or E). For example, the hook G may be detached and the strap swung around the upper end of the frame B until the hook G can be engaged with the cross piece E of the frame A, whereupon it will extend from (Z to E and the cross pieces 6 and D thereupon become the foot pieces of the frame in the new position of adjustment. for transportatior, the strap F may be unhooked at one or both ends, whereupon the frames are permitted to collapse to a horizontal position. The cross pieces are refcrably covered with a sheathing of ru her or other suitable material, but this covering is not essential to my invention.

The frames A 1nd B are preferably each composed of a sir. gle piece of wire bent into the desired shape. Strands of wire composing the frame A may be coiled at the center, as illustrated in the drawings, and the strands composing the frame B maybe olfset and passed through these coils to form the desiredpivota connection. In use, the tension upon the band F may be increased to any desired degree by pressing Crwnwardly upon the connected frames at any point. The operator will grasp one of the frames, either above or below the pivot point C or by taking hold of one of the hooked end members G or G, thus steadying the frame, while the blade to be sharpened is re ciprocatcd upon tte band.

The term band is used ".i its generic sense to include a strop, a strap of emery cloth or any equivalent material used for sharpening edged tools.

Having thus d scribed my invention what I claim as new a 1d desire to secure by Letters Patentis,

1. In a device of the described class, t h e combination of two crossed pivoted frames-f and a flexible band having an upper surface of material adapted for sharpening edged tools, connecting their upper ends said band being of nearly 'he same length as that oflhe frames and adapted to permit the frames to approach me .-e nearly to a horizontal than to a vertical position when connected by the band.
