To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, Enron G. Sniursom'a resident of Jamestown, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in File-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact do I scription thereof.

The object of my invention is to provide a file holder with a follower which may be readily moved from one end of the holder to the other and which in its stationary position is automatically clamped in position so as to remain securely in place.
A further object of my invention is to re duce the friction in the movement of thefollower and at the same time so guide the follower that it will not bind or catch when being moved within the holder.

The front face of the follower on the upper edge: atabout the mid portion is the stops 14; at one end thereof and at the opposite enda clamping member 15 which enters the guide-way 7, the lower edge of such clamping member being adapted to bear against the bottom face of said guide-way, or against the wear-plate 8 therein. A second clamping member 16 is located within the guide-way 7 above the clamping member 15 and the upper edge of said clamping momber 16 is provided with the bear ng points 17 adapted tobear-against the upper inner face'of the guide-Way 7. The lower edge of the clamping member 16 is cut awayfas at 18 and at 19 as clearly shown in Fig. 4 to fit over the clamping member 15 and to form the opening 20 between said clam ing members to receive the flattened 0r ob ong end portion 21' of the clamping bar 22. This clamping bar 22 is held between the stops.

The device is simple in construction and not liable to get out of order, while theparts are soprotected against wear as to insurethe long life of the device. By having the guide-ways for the follower up at the upper edges of the side walls of the holder" the operator can direct the movement of the follower with greater ease and convenience.
What I claim is: 1; In a file-holder, the combination of a follower, oppositely arranged guide-ways extendinglongitudinally of said holder, a clamping rod in operative engagement with said follower, oppositely disposed individual clamping members in said guide-ways, and means for securing said clamping members 2. Ina file-holder, the combination of a follower, oppositely arranged guide-ways clamping position, oppositely disposed clamping members in said guide-ways, and means for forcing said clamping members apart by the action of said olampingrod.

In a file-holder, the combination of a follower, oppositely arranged guide-ways extending longitudinally of said holder, a spring actuated clamping rod in operative said clamping rod being oblong, oppositely disposed clamping members in said guidesaid stops, oppositely disposed clamping members in said guide-ways, the outer ends of said clamping rod being oblong and adapted to engage said clamping members.
