Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed July 8, 1908. Serial No. 442,511.
To all whom it may concern:
.Be it known that I, AI M. YOUNG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Danville, in the county of Vermilion and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to combs, and the object of the invention is to provide a comb of that class employed in connection with ladies hair for retaining the hair in a desired style, the comb being provided with a compartment adapted for the reception of a perfumery which will be imparted to the hair of the wearer when the comb is in position thereon.
WVith these and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction of hair combs hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a comb constructed in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional View upon the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
In the accompanying drawings the numeral 1 designates the comb proper. This comb, which is primarily intended for use in retaining ladies hair in a desired fashion, comprises a body portion or top 2 and the spaced fingers or teeth 3. Either integrally formed upon the body portion or top 2 or formed separately and connected therewith is a perfumery compartment 4. This compartment 4 is preferably in a form of a disk and is provided with cut away portions or openings 5 at the upper portion thereof whereby the perfumery may be readily in.- serted within the compartment.
From the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be noted that I have provided an extremely simple device for automatically perfuming ladies hair, one which is adapted to be positioned upon the inner face of the comb so as to lie adjacent or in contact with the hair of the wearer thereby rendering the same invisible.
Having thus fully described the invention what is claimed as new is:
1. A side or back comb having its body portion or face adapted to be positioned adj acent the hair of the wearer provided with a retaining wall forming a perfumery compartment, said compartment having openings near its outer portion whereby the scent of the perfumery within the compartment may be diffused therefrom and imparted to the hair of the wearer.
2. A comb having a body provided with depending teeth, a curved disk shaped wall secured to the body, the secured disk being provided with spaced openings adjacent its top and providing a perfumery compartment and the body of the comb forming the rear wall of the compartment.
