IMPROVEMENT IN SEEDERS.
The Schedule referred to in these :Petters Patent and making part cf the same.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, Monats L. U'rcrnnfof Rockford, in the county of Winnebago, and State of Illinols, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sceders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference heilig had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. This invention relates yto an improvement in the construction of the lseed-sower patented hy M. L. Gol'- hani, August 6, 1861, and consists in providing the seed-wheel with hollow journals, which have their hearings in thev partitions of the hopper, andare operated by means of a squared shaft.
In the drawings i Figure 1 represents a plan view of a section of seedbox containing my invention, and Figure 2, a section through line x x, iig. 1.`
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fully its construction and operation.
In ordinary seeders, in which distributing-wheels areeniploycd, it is-usual to employ a circular revolving shaft, having bearings in .the partitions of the seed-box, to which said wheels are rigidly attached. Y
My improvement consists in providing each wheel with two journals, A A, whichare inserted 'in suitable" -bearngs inthe partitions B 'lhe journals A are provided with an opening, b, which passes through the same longitudinally, and corresponds in shape with the shaft G, which may be of square, .octagonah or other equivalent form, which is revolved in any suitable manner.
By this construction, the shaft requires no turning or planing in order to do perfect work. The opening through the requires no set-screw or any other device to secure it to the shaft, it being only necessary to" introduce the latter int-o the opening.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat-- ent, is s The seed-wheel, Ywith journals A A, constructed as described, the'partition B B andsquare shaft G, the y whole being combined and arranged .as described, for the purpose set forth.
