Be it known that l, JOSEPH KAUFMAN, a citizen of the' United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and usel'n] Improvements in RazolBlade Ilolders; and I do hereb declare the following to he a l'ull, clear, andY exact description of the` invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in handles for razors, a'l'i'd more particularly to holders adapted especially for detachably sustaining safety razor blades during the operation olstropping.

The obect 1n view is the provision of a razor blade .handle or support which is foldableand 'extensible for purposes of compactess, in the first instance, and for increasing theV length'of the grip in thev latter', means being providedA for preventing`acoidental -folding ,of thel parts during the stropping operation. V With this and further objects in view, as will hereinafter in part be set forth and in part become obvious, the invention'comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and Varrangements of parts as will be specified aifd claimed.

Obviously, the detents 7 may be of any desired size, and in closing or opening the handle, said detents will, of course, spring outwardly and slide along the faces of the handln 4 until'they-arrive.at the opening 8, or at the edge of the handle, thelaterally sprung'condition being indicated in dots in lig. 3,' and the springing action occurring between the free end of each of the plates 3 and the point of engagement of the rivet 5. i

In operation, the present improved holder will Vbe, packed for shipment in the condition indicated in Fig. 4 with the handle 4 lying 'within the casing or blade receiver 1, and

and it bein only necessary to slide the blade into place ongltudinally into the casing or blade receiver from vthe free end thereol`. After the stroppmg operation has been completed the blade is simply slid longitudinally out of the' receiver or casing, and the handle 4 swung pivotally to the position indicated in F ig. 4, the detents 7 7,'heing thusV forced a art and caused to travel across .ay portion OFthehanZlIe and allowed to` spring together beyond the edge of the handle.
