Be it known that l, Unnirr K. I l.\ .1., a citi zen ot the United States, residing in the city of Portland, countyot' Multnomah, and State of )regon, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Desk-Bask ts. of which I the fol owing is a specification.

My invention relates to desk baskets and particularly to that class of desk baskets in order to save deskspace.

l am aware that nest." baskets with the several baskets rigidly and permanentl letters are frequently crumpled and torn by engagement with the supporting. legs or members connecting the dii'ferent baskets.

The principal object of my invention is to )rovide. a basket of the character referred to 111 which the dilferent baskets, mounted one above the other, can be readily moved relatively to each other to make more easy the removal of papers from a lower basket.

My invention will be readiiy understood from the following description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which Figure l is a ierspectivc view of a three. story basket in the rest posit ion; l ig. In practical use, letters and papers are put into these baskets one at atime and lie in the basket in all sorts of positions. They are usually removed all together. It will be understood, therefore, that it is a very great convenience and saving of time to be able to move the basket or baskets next above the one from which the papers are to be taken so as to have free access to the basket from which you wish to take the papers. This is readily and quickly accomplished by my invention. in one also the separate baskets are lifted in a vertical plane, turning upon a horizontal axis; and in the other embodiment of the invention the baskets turn upon a vertical axis aud are moved independently in a horizontal plane.

What i claim as my invention is l. A. desk basket comprising a plurality of baskets or trays supported one above the other at a distance apart by means of sup ort-ing legs or extensions therebetaveen, each liasket being supported by a hinge connection at one side thereof and free to be moved at. the oppositeside thereof, whereby it can be moved upon its hinge joint relatively to the othenle'isk'ets, substantially as described.
