-.Be it known that l, Loom 'BURNIS WHEELER, a citizen of the United States,- 're-. siding at Asheville, in the county of Buns conibe and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Sanita Attachment for Drain-Boards, of which' tlie followin isa specification. Theinvention relates to a-sanitary attach-' ment for drain boards. v
The object of the presentinvention is to l I l pensive device, adapted to be -applied to wdoden and metallic drain boards, and capable of enabling the same to be quickly cleaned and easily maintained in an antiseptic condition. w a
Another object of the invention is to provide a sanitary attachment otgthischaracter, adapted to' operate as a cushion to prevent glasses from being chipped or broken, l 1
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and ointed out in the claims hereto appended; it eing understood that various 0 anges in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction, within the scope of the claims, may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing an of the advantages of the invention.
n the drawing :Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a soda counter, equipped with sanitary drain board attachments constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view of one of the drain boards and the sanitary attachment. Fig; 3 is a transverse sectional view on the line xx of Fig. 2.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.
The attachment, which conforms to the configuration of a drain board 1, is applicable to drain boards of soda counter, bar structures and the like, and it is designed to be constructed of celluloid, zylonite, and similar pyroxylin products, but itfinay be constructed of gutta percha or similar-noncorroding and non-absorbent material, as it is designed .to avoid the labor required to keep copper drain boards in a cleanly condition and to eliminate the'foul condition re- I sulting from the use of wooden drain boards.

vided at its up er face with longitudinal corrugations 3 to orm grooves or gutters for di- Y 1 lower end arranged upon a sink 2, and is prowith longitudinal corrugations, forming.
grooves or gutters and fitting the corrugations 3 of the drain board, whereby the sam-f tary attachment is firmly seated on the drain board. The intervening corrugations of the sanitary attachment and-the drain board op" erate to retain the former in posit on on latter I The lower end of the sanitary attachment is provided with adepending transverse lip or flange. 5, which enga es the lower end of the drain board andw "ch forms a shield for the same. The lip or flan e extends slightly below the lower face 0 the drain board to exclude water. from the end. and lower face of the same. The depending transverse lip or flange isstraight and the corrugations terminate at the top of' the same. p
The attachment is rovided at the side and the upper ends of the ody with flanged walls 6 and 7, to fit the inner faces and upper ed es of the walls of the drain board. wa ls 6 and 7, which are substantially vertical, are rovided at their upper edges with outward y extending flanges 8 and 9, but in applying the attachment to drain boards, having only one wall, or no wall, the sanitary attachment will be constructed accordingly as one or more of the walls of the attachment may be omitted.
The attachment is provided with a depending lug or portionlO, extending downwardly from the flange 9, and provided with a threaded perforation for the reception of a thumb screw 11. The thumb screw 11 is adapted to engagethe upper end wall of the drain board, and it operates to fasten the attachment to the drain board, and at the same time it serves to draw the upper end wall 7 and the depending flange 5 tightly against the contiguous parts of the drain board.
' When the attachment is constructed of'a thin sheet of celluloid, or similar material, it
l loss resulting from breaking and chipping The drain board 1, which is inclined, has its '1 glasses.
The
drain board and to present an upper corrugated face, and integral side walls extending upward fromthe body portion and provided at their'upper edges with flanges to fit over a the upper edges of the side walls of a drain board.
2. A sanitary attachment for drain boards comprising a corrugated body" portion conformingto the configuration'of a drain board and provided at the lower end of the drain board with a de ending lip or flange extending across the ody portion, and clamping means located at the upper end of the body portion for engaging the drain board.
3. A removable sanitary attachment for drain boards constructed of a thin sheet of relatively elastic non-corrodible material and comprising a body portion corrugated to fit the corrugations of a drain board and to present an upper corrugated face, integral side wallsextending upward from the body portion and provided at their upper edges with flanges to fit over the upper e ges of the side I 921,192 g a walls of a drain board, and a lip or flange exi tending across the lower end of the body portion of the attachment and adapted to dewhen in place thereonQ 4. A removable sanitary attachment for drain boards constructed of a thin sheet of relatively elastic non-corrodible material and comprising a body portion corrugated to fit the corrugations of a drain board and to prepend below the upper face of the drain board sent an upper corrugated face, integral side walls extending upward from the body portion and provided at:their upper edges with Walls of a drain board, a li or an e extending across the lower end 0 the body portion of the attachment and adapted to. depend below the upper face of the drain board when in place thereon, and a clamping screw arranged at the upper end of the attachment and adapted to engage the drain board for the said drain board.
