The pawls 38 engage h outwardly e2 tending teeth throughout a portion of the movement of the levers 36 and 37 but are held from engagement with said teeth near the upper end of said movement by means of an are shaped plate 40 secured to said back plate. Near the upper ends of said levers are wires 41 adapted to connect with pedals 42 and 43 secured to the lower end of said standard 1. The lever 37 carries its upper end a forwardly curved piece havi therein an eye adapted to receive therein a curved rod d5 fastened to the outer -nd of the pawl 46 pivot-ally secured to the outer end of a smaller lever 47 pivotall mounted upon a pin 48, rotatably mounted in a bearing 49 in said back plate and a bearing in a front plate 50 secured to the front of said tubular support 8 and on which said arms 7 are pivotally mounted. The pin 48 carries a rigid wheel 51 and the pinion 52 adapted to engage the teeth 16 to i love said rod 13 upwardly when the smaller lever $7 is oscil-- lated. A box 53 may be provided to contain the mechanism thus described.
