To all whom it may concern:

clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use. the same.
This invention relates to hame fasteners, and especially to that class ofhame fasteners dis ensing with buckles and straps.
n object of the invention is to provide a hame fastener cheaply and economically made and which will secure the separable ends of hames together with a considerable degree of tension and one which is easily and quickly applied and removed, j and which will remain in locked position when applied.
A further object of the invention is to provide in a hame fastener a tubular member which is applied to the extremity of one hame with a member applied to the extremity of the co-acting hame adapted to be slidably inserted inthe tubular member and with lever adjustment for drawing thel members together and locking them under tension. I/Vith these and other objects in view, the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed. l
In the drawings Figure 1 is-a fragmentary view of a collar and hames with the improved fastening membrerin operative position thereon. Fig. 2 is a view with the tubular member in longitudinal section and the co-acting member in side elevation showing other parts broken away. Fig. 3 is aview of the tubular member in inverted plan with the locking lever in locked position. Fig. 4 is a view in inverted plan of a tubular member stamped from sheet material. Fig. 5 is a view in end elevation of theftubular member shown at and taken on line5 ofFig. 4.

The improved hame Vfastener forming .the subject-matter of this application comprises two sections, one of which 10 is tubular in form and is either cast as indicated at Fig. 2 or Is composedof sheet material stam ed w and bent as shown at Figl 4. termediate the ends of the lever 12 a stirrup 14 is pivoted as by the pintle 15 and at the end opposite the lever 12 is provided with a cross pin 16. The member 10 is also provided at one end with a hook 17 positioned and proportioned to engage the loop or eye 18 upon the end of a hame 19. For co-action within the member 10 a member 2O is provided having a hook 21 similar to the hook 17 at the member 10 and similarly adapted to engage the loop or eye 22 of the hame 23. Along the body of the member 20 is a plurality of spaced teeth or abutments 24 forming therebetween recesses for engagin the cross pin 16. Then the sheet metal tu ular member is employed the co-acting member is preferably formed as shown in end elevation at Fig. 6 being also formed of sheet metal stamped as Shown at 25 and with upturned lever ribs 26 spaced to move longitudinally between the spaced edges 27 of the tubular member 10. In operation thelmember 1() and the member 2() are, of course, respectively engaged upon the hames 19 and 23 and when such hames are to be connected the extremity of the member 20 is inserted in the extremity of the tubular member 10 and the lever 12 moved to the position shown at Fig. 2 and the cross pin 16 engaged upon one of the teeth 24. The lever 12 is then moved upon its pivot 13 as indicated by the arrow to the position shown in Fig. 1 whereupon a straight line connecting the pivot pins 15 and 16 passes between the pivot 13 and the tubular member so that the strain of the hames 10 tends to hold the lever 12 in locked position against the tubular member 10. `When .the hames are to be removed the end of the lever 12 is forcibly moved in reverse direction from that indicated by the arrow which relieves tension upon the member 20 and the cross pin 16 may then be easily moved from engagement with the tooth 24 and the members separated.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1.y In a hame fastener, a tubular member provided with a hooked extremity, amember adapted to slide Within the hooked meniber and provided et one end with a hook end along the surface with e lurslity of spaced teeth, spaced eers upstanc ing from the tubular member, a lever pivoted between the spaced eers, and a bail pivoted upon the lever and provided With e cross ber adapted to engage the spaced teeth of the inner member.
2. A heme fastener comprising` a curved tubular member, provided et one end with e hook, spaced ears upstanding from the convex side of the curved tubular member, a curved member adapted to slidebly enter the tubu- 15 lar member, e hook formed upon one end of the letter curved member, spaced teeth formed upon the convex side of the inner slideble member, e lever pivoted between the upstending eers, und a buil pivoted to the lever having a cross heed :idupted to t. engage the spaced teeth und so proportioned that u line drawn between its pivot :ind cross heed passes the pivot point ol" the lever both in opening and closing.
