HENRY L. BLUE, OF GONZALES, TEXAS.
PIE-PLATE LIFTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 26, 1908.
Patented April 20, 1909.
Serial No. 417,880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY L.'BLUn,"a citizen of the United States, residing at Gonzales, in the county of Gonzales and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Pie- Plate Lifter; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains-to make and use the same.
The invention relates to pie plate lifters, and has for its object to provide a simple inexpensive and durable device of this character adapted to conveniently handle pie plates and other cooking utensils when the same are too hot to be touched by the hand.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of arts hereinafter described and shown and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings is illustrated a of my invention.
Referring to the drawings, 1 and 2 designate the main members of my invention which are integral with each other and are formed of a stout wire, flexible rods or other suitable material and have a spring action by reason of the loop 3, as will be clearly understood. Members 1 and 2 are provided with loops 3 and 4, which are adapted to engage the periphery of a pie plate or other cooking utensil. The terminals of the members '1 plan view and 2 are bent inwardly, as at 5 and 6 for the purpose of holding the device securely in engagement with the article being handled.
In order to firmly hold the pie plate in engagement with the device, a series of three loops or coils 6 is arranged on either side of said device, one of said coils being designed to engage the up er side of the periphery of the pie plate, w 'le the other two of the same serles are designed to engage the under face of said eriphery.
What is c aimed is,
A plate holder comprising a single length or plece of wire bent u on itself forming elongated members, said elongated members have their free end portions curved upon themselves and of a contour to conform to the curvature of the annular eriphery of a plate, the said end portions con orming to the annular periphery of the late having coils -6, two of which are designe to engage one face of the plate while the others engage the opposite face of the plate, said end portions having their extremities 5 directed toward one another, as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY L. BLUE.
