Description

taten fatemi wwassaeew MARTIN HEUSY, or BUnLINGToN,'oHIo.
Leners Patent No. 91,628, lated June 22,1869.
Y To all whom it may concern Be it kno'wu that L MARTIN HEUSY, of Burlington, in the county of Fulton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Device for Cleaning Sansage-Cases yand I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, inwhich- Figure 1 represents a vertical transverse section of my improved machine.
Figure 2 is a plan or top view, on an enlarged scale, of the same.
`Similar 'letters of 'reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new apparatus for cleaning the intestines used for sausagefcases, and is to supersede the ordinary scrapingmethod, by means of knives or sticks heretofore employed. The invention consists in the use of a blade, or metal plate, A, which is secured to a U-sbaped bar, or frame, B, the ends of which are pivoted to a platform, O.
The blade A forms the middle or front side of the frame B, and may, in suitable manner, be fastened to the same.
The ends ofthe frame A, are, by pins a, pivoted to ears b, that project fron'ethe platform.
The platform is placed upon an inclined bed, or otherwise in an inclined position, near a'tub, D.-
The intestines, which have first to be turned, are drawn through, between the blade and the platform, by one hand, the other hand pressing gently upon the blade.
The bladeV will then thoroughly scrape and clean that side of the cases exposed to its action.
When one side has been cleaned, the case is allowed to slip down on the platform, and is then drawn through once more, with its other face exposed to the blade.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a device for cleaning sausage-cases, made and operating sub'steltially as herein shown and described.
MARTIN HEUS'Y'.
