JOHN J. BUSOHOR, or MUNcIE, INDIANA.
COMBINATION SHADE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
'Patented March 23, 1909.
Application filed February 28, 1908. Serial No. 418,190.
Y sition of the ends of the curtain or shade roller support may be accomplished easily and effectively.
To these ends further objects of my invention are to provide a device of the kind described which will be simple and economical of construction, easy and reliable of manipulation and operation, and which will be durable.
The objects aforesaid of my invention are accomplished by the construction, arrangement and combination of parts described and claimed in this specification, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Similar characters of reference refer'to corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view showing the upper portion of a window casement upon which my invention is applied. Fig. 2 is a side view, and Fig. 3 is an end view ofmy improved shade holder. Fig. 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 44 Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional View on the line 55 Fig. 2. r i
The frame A upon which my improved device'is applied is made of sheet metal pressed into the general form as shown in the drawings, having the inturned flanges A forming a continuous horizontal recess B.
The body C of my improved shade holder is made of sheet metal and is so devised that it may be stamped or cut in flat form and then bent into the boX-likeshape as shown, having the flanges C and the journal-head The meeting edges will come together and make a neat joint at C and will be held in position by the shaft D. This shaft is square in cross section and will turn in round holes provided therefor in the body-sides and has the integrally formed head D its opposite end is shouldered and has the thumblever E secured thereon by the riveted head D will freely turn.
F designates a cam that resides on the square shaft D, so that it will move with the said shaft.
The grip-member G is of suitable thickness and width to occupy the space between the sides of the bodyC and its end is provided with the foot G adapted to reside in the recess B of the frame A. The grip-member G has the suitable hole G in which the cam F The edges of the gripmember are so slanted that when the cam is moved the grip-member will not impinge against the body C. When the thumb-lever E is lifted the foot G will move away from the body C, so that the standard may be easily placed on the frame A at the position desired, then when the thumb-lever E is depressed, the foot G will be raised and held in hard contact with the flanges A. No machine work whatever is necessary in the making of the body C, and the assembling of the parts involves only the placing in position of the grip-member G and the cam F, then the shaft D is inserted into position, and the thumb-lever E placed thereon, then by riveting the head D the standard is complete.
My invention applied to use appears as shown in Fig. 1. The frame A is secured to the window by the application of screws or light nails. Thus secured in position the recess B forms a convenient and eflicient trackway in which the holder may be adjusted and secured. Once so placed in position, change therefrom is never necessary because any variation in length of the shade-roller may be accommodated by the adjustment of the holder to any desired position in the recess B.
From the foregoing description of my invention, the application and operation thereof will be apparent.
By manipulation of the thumb lever E my improved shade holder is easily and effectively secured in desired positions.
What I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States,-is
1. A shade-roller support for a slotted frame-member substantially as described, consisting of a box-shaped body a shaft rotatably secured therein upon which is secured a cam, a thumb lever secured on the end of said shaft, a flanged-foot having an extension that is engaged by said cam, substantially as and for the purposes described.
2. A shade roller support for a slotted frame member substantially as described,
consisting of a hollow box-shaped body, a shaft rotatably secured therein upon which shaft and between the Walls of the said body is rigidly secured a cam, a thiunblover secured. on said shal't, a flanged. post having an extension that is disposed between the walls of the said body and that is engaged by the said eain, substantially and for the pur poses specified.
3. A shade-roller support for a slotted frame-member substantially as described, consisting of the body-plate N having the flanges N and journal-head N and bent to form a rectangular body the angular shaft 0 journaled in the said body having the cam Q and the thumb-lever l secured thereon; the l'langed-hniit it having the extension it engaged by said eain Q and sustained between the sides of said body substantially as and for the purposes speeiiied.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence ol' two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN J. BUSCHOR.
