JOHN CONATY MfAGUIRE, OF MALONE, NEW YORK.
SA'SH-HOLDER.
T o all whom it may concern:
Beit known that.l I, JOHN CoNArY MA- yennui, a citizen of the United States, resid- Holders., of which the following is a specifi-- cation, reference being had therein to the accompanying. drawing.
This invention relates to an im in sash holders and more artcu ary tol the class of sash holders whic are designed to take the place of the usual cords and Weights and which comprise devices which are secured to the inner face of the sash frame and are adapted to yieldably engage the outer edges of the window to hold t desired position of adjustment.
Thev .object of the present invention is the provision of an effective sash holder of this rovement type which is of a; simple construction and which is so fashioned t secured to or removed frame.
Other objects of the invention will be apparent from the detailed description hereinafter when read 'in connection with the accompanymg drawings forming a part hereof, wherein a referable embodiment of the invention is s own and` wherein like letters of reference refer to similar parts in the several views. i
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window frame equipped with my improvedsash holder,-Figs. 2 and 3 are detail views.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings A designates a window frame which may be `of any suitable construction and the sash receiving grooves of which are provided with one or more of my im roved sash holders. Each of the sash olders com rises an elongated metal plate B which is aV apted to be secured in the sash receiving channel of the window frame\ and which is at it can be readily from the window provided adjacent the upper edge thereof with an opening b therein. S cured to the plate B is a spring plate C from the yfree' end of which extends se aratef arms c c in which is journaled a roller D, the periphery of which, projects through the opening b in the plate B, so as to be engaged by the outer edge lof the sash" when Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed August 24, 1908.
e same in any Patented March 23, 1909. Serial N o. 450,024.
I the plate B is secured in position in the winl dow frame. The roller D is permitted to project through the opening b in the plate B for a slight distance only, further projection of the roller through the opening being prevented by the outer Vend of the arms c c which contact with the rear -surface of the plate B. l
E designates a spring plate one end of which is rigidly secured to the plate B and the other end of which engages the upper surface of the spring vplate in holding the ro ler D in yieldable engagement with the sash.
F designates a spring plate one end of which is rigidly secured to the rear side of .the plate B and the free end of which rests upon the periphery of the roller D and yieldably engages the same. The'spring plate F .constitutes a braking member to retard the rotation of the roller D so that 'the sash may be held in any desired position of adjustifient, and at the same time said spring plate also serves to hold the roller in yield.- able engagement with the sash.
The ends ofthe spring plates C, E and F are preferably secured to the rear surface of the plate B by a single fastening means, a Vrivet being utilized for this purpose in the form of the invention shown in the drawings.v
It will be noted that all ofthe parts ofthe 'sash' holder will be carried by the plate B,so that it is only necessary, in order to attach the same to -any window,v to secure said plate in the sash channel ofthe window frame,
' said frame being of course recessed t0 accommodate the parts projecting from the rear surface of the plate. l
, With the sash holder as herein described, it is obvious that the window can be readily raised and lowered and can desired .position of adjustment.
late C to assist said be held in anyA While in the foregoin the sash holder has ysaid springs being provi ed with a. roller prov secured by a common fastening means to the In testimony whereof 'I affix my signature rear surface of sald sup ortmg plate, one of in presence of two witnesses.
