ADJUSTABLE WINDOW-SHADE FIXTURE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL D. BAIRD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Prairieton, in the county of Vigo and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Window- Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to shade and curtain brackets, and. more particularly to adjustable shade brackets, and has for its object to provide a bracket which may be ad justed to suit different conditions, and which will be so arranged that screws employed to hold the bracket in place will also be utilized to hold the bracket at different points of its adjustment.
Another object is to provide a structure which will be extremely simple and which can be manufactured at a low figure.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and it will be understood that changes in the speciiic structure may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings forming a portion of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 is an elevational view of the present bracket, Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line 22 of Fig. 1, taken through the attaching member, Fig. 3 is a view of the attaching device removed from the adjustable member.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown an attaching member 5 and an adjustable member 6.
The attaching device consists of two members 7 and 8, the former being disposed above the latter. Each of these members consists of a central portion 9, which is curved upwardly upon its longitudinal axis to produce an upper convex surface and an under concave surface, as shown. At each end of the portion 9, there is formed an ear 10, which is provided with a central opening 11, the openings 11 of the ears of the two members alining in pairs as shown for the reception of attaching screws. As shown, the portion 9 of the member 8 is of a greater concavity than the portion 9 of the member 7, so that there is a space between the mutually adjacent faces of the curved portions.
As indicated in the drawings, the attaching device 5 is formed of a single blank of metal, bent upon itself to produce the two members 7 and 8, these two members being connected at the outer end of one of the pairs of ears 10. These ears are normally slightly separated at their inner portions, but, as shown, the ears at the opposite ends of the portions 9 of the two members 7 and 8, lie normally in spaced relation. This structure is clearly illustrated in Fig. 3.
The adjustable member 6 includes an arm 15 curved transversely, to produce concavoconvex faces and this portion is thus arranged for introduction through the space between the portions 9 of the two members 7 and 8. At one end of the arm 15, there is a laterally bent portion indicated at 16, and this portion is enlarged at its outer end and provided with an opening 17 for the reception of one of the pintles of a shade roller.
Attaching screws 18 are engaged through the pairs of alining eyes 11, and it will be observed that the screw which is engaged through the eyes of the connected cars 10 may be tightened to produce a degree of frictional engagement between the members 7 and 8 and the arm 15, so that the arm may be positioned properly without danger ofits accidental slipping. After the arm has been positioned, the screw which is engaged through the eyes of the separate ears 10 is tightened, and the two members 7 and 8 are thus brought together to clamp the arm against movement.
What is claimed is:
An adjustable shade bracket comprising an attaching device formed of a piece of metal bent upon itself to produce upper and lower members, said members having their central portions curved upwardly, the curved portion of the lower member lying within and in spaced relation to the curved portion of the upper member, the end portions of said members having alining eyes therein, an arm transversely curved and slidably en- .gaged between the curved portions of the In testimony whereof I aflix my signature; in presence of two witnesses.
