NECK-YOICE END.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Isaac L. DRAUOKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Liberty, in the county of Gage and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Neck- Yoke End, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention has relation to neck yoke ends and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts, as hereinafter shown and described.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the character indicated which consists primarily of a clamping member adapted to be applied to the end portion of a neck yoke, and which is provided with tangs adapted to be sunk into the material of which the yoke is composed, for the purpose of preventing lateral relative movement of the said clamp upon the yoke. The said clamp is in the form of an interrupted cylin der, having end portions spaced apart and a bolt is provided for drawing the said end portions of the clamp together. A frame is pivotally mounted upon the said clamp, and is provided with side flanges and end loops and is adapted to receive the pole strap of the harness.
The parts of the neck yoke end are preferably made of meta-l and possess suflicient resiliency to enable the end to be readily applied to neck yokes of different diameters, and without requiring the yoke to be weakened by transverse perforations or surface incisions. The upper, portion of the frame completely covers the upper side of the clamp and projects beyond the front and rear portions of the same, while the under side of the frame terminates short of the ends of the clamp, and consequently sufficient space is provided for tightening the nut which is screw-threaded upon the clamp ing bolt.
Figure 1' is a top plan view of the neck yoke end applied, and Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
The neck yoke end consists of the substantially circular or cylindrical clamp 1, which is preferably made of a strip of comparatively resilient metal and is provided with the substantially parallel spaced ends 2. The metal of which the said clamp is composed is provided at intervals along its edges with the tangs 8, which are adapted to be bent down and forced into the material of which the neck yoke is composed.

The clamping bolt 4L, passes transversely through the parallel end 2, of the clamp 1, and the nut 5, is screw-threaded upon one end portion of the said bolt 4:. The frame (3, is preferably made of a strip of sheet metal and is pivoted to the upper and lower sides of the clamp 1, as at 7. The said frame 6, is provided at its edges with the flanges 8, and at its ends with the loops 9. The neck yoke strap (not shown) is adapted to pass through the loops 9, and lie against the outer side of the frame 6, and between the flanges 8, thereof.
From the above description, it is obvious that the neck yoke end as above described, may be applied to yokes of different diameter, and that in the application of the device it is not necessary to perforate the neck yoke or unnecessarily weaken the same by cutting incisions in the surface thereof. It is also obvious that by reason of the fact that the clamp 1 is pivotally connected with the frame 6, that the said clamp may oscillate with the neck yoke with relation to the frame 6, which forms a support for the neck yoke strap. It will also be seen that the upper end portion of the frame 6 projects beyond the ends 2 of the clamp 1, and, consequently, the neck yoke strap cannot come in contact with the ends of the clamp or the head of the bolt a. It will also be seen that the lower end portion of the frame 6 terminates short of the end 2, of the clamp 1, and consequently sufficient space is provided in order that access may be had to the nut 5, for the purpose of loosening or tightening the clamp bolt 4, as desired.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A neck yoke end comprising a clamp formed of resilient material and having spaced ends, a bolt passing transversely through the said ends and adapted to draw the same together, and a strap frame pivot- ISAAC L.
