To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE M. ScRoeGs, citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans'and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Antiseptic Lining for Mouthpieces, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to detachable antiseptic linings for telephone mouthpieces; and it consists in the peculiar and advantageous lining hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, accompanying and forming part of this specification: Figure 1 is a View, partly in section and partly in elevation, illustrating the lining constituting the best, known embodiment of my inven tion, as properly positioned relative to the mouthpiece of a conventional telephone fixture.- Fig. 2 comprises disconnected views of the parts comprised in my novel lining.

A is a mouthpiece which is shown as that of an ordinary telephone apparatus, and B,
' C and D are the outer member, the inner member, and the absorbent body, respectively, of the lining forming the subject of my invention.
The outer member, B, of the improved device, is made quite thin of metal, hard rubber or other material consonant with its purpose, and is eXteriorly and interiorly tapered from a point adjacent its outer end to its inner end. At its said outer end the member B is rovided with a circumferential flange b, whic h affords a shoulder 0 designed to bring up against the outer end of the mouthpiece A, Fig. 1, with a View of limiting the inward movement of the lining when the same is applied to the mouth iece.' Exteriorly the outer member B'is t readed at its outer end, as indicated by d, for a purpose hereinafter set forth.
As shown in Fig. 1, read in connection with Fig. 2, the inner member C of the lining is exteriorly andinteriorly tapered correspondingly to the tapered portion of the outer member B. Said inner member, however, differs from-the outer member in that its ta ered portion is foraminous-t e., is provi ed with closely arranged transverse apertures e, the oflice of said apertures being to permit disinfecting or antiseptic' fumes to pass freely from the absorbent body D to the interior of the telephone mouthpiece A. Said inner member 0 terminates at its outer end in a forwardly directed flange and this latter is interiorlythreaded, as indicated by g, to engage the exterior thread (if of member B, after the manner shown in Fig. 1. It will also be observed by reference to the drawings that the member O carries resilient clamps h, which are preferably fixed to the ,outer side of the member, by brazing or otherwise, and are arranged to extend forwardly at'intervals and to grasp the outer portion of the mouthpiece A so as to detachably retain my lining in the said mouthpiece in such manner that there is no liability of the lining being casually displaced, but so that it may be readil withdrawn with little effort from the mout lpiece.
In an annular space 1. afforded between the tapered ortions of the members Band C, is arranged the correspondingly tapered absorbent body D may be of any material compatible with its function, and itmay be impre ated with a suitable antiseptic or dls' ectant by saturation or in other approved manner. WVhen the said body D is positioned between the members B and C, relativel arrangedas shown in Fig. 1, it will bemanlfest that the body will be securely held inproper position and without liability of its being casually displaced, is turned out of the member B, the absorbent body may be ex editiously and easil removed to be freshly impregnated with isin-v fectant, after which it may be readily replaced in the member B and secured in posi-,
tion by the illustrated connection of the member C to the member B. It will also be understood that when desired a new body carrying antiseptic. or. disinfecting material may be substituted for the body shown when occasion demands.
In the practical use of my novel lining, the same may be readily snapped in and on a telephone mouth iece, and when the is arranged as sli fectant or antiseptic is enabled to freely pass through the apertures e of the member 0 and reach all parts of the interior of the mouthpiece. 1

Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
. 1. A detachable, antiseptic lining for mouthpieces, comprising an outer -member, an inner member arranged in and detachably connected to the outer member, and antiseptic means interposed and held between the two members.
2. A detachable, antiseptic lining for mouthpieces, comprising an outer member,
connected ,to the outermember, antiseptic means interposed and held betweenthe two members, and clamps fixed with. respect to the-inner member, and'reaching forwardly, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
3. A' detachable, antiseptic lining for mouthpieces, comprising an outer member ward end and having an exterior shoulder adapted to bring up against"theend of a mouthpiece, a correspondingly tapered and foraminous mner member arranged in and detachably connected to the. outer member, and antiseptic means interposed and held 4. A detachable, antiseptic lining for mouthpieces, comprising an outer member interiorly and exteriorly tapered to its forward or inner end and having a circumferential flange at its outer or rear end, which flange affords an exterior shoulder and is exteriorly threaded, a correspondingly tapered and foraminous inner member arranged in the outer member and having a forwardl directed flange at its outer or rearendin which is a thread engaging the exterior.

A detachable, antiseptic lining for mouthpieces, comprising an outer member, an inner member threaded to the outer member and detachable therefrom, anti septic means held between the two members, and combined clamps and fingerpieces carr'ied by the inner member and reaching forwardly therefrom, outside the outer member.
