In order that the vertical finishing casing, 12, may be securely and yet d'etachably fitted to the box or frame, I rivet or otherwise fasten to the inner side of said casing a suitable number of plates, 14, one of which is shown in Fig. 4, and which plate projects inward from the casing 12, and has its free end bent into substantially hook-form as shown at 15. I also extend across the open side of the box or frame and at such distances apart as conditions require, suitable clips, 16, one of which is shown inFigs. 2 and 4. In practice these clips will'be about two and one-half inches(2'}-) wide and will be spaced'about ten inches (10") apart, their end portions being slightly offset and being riveted or otherwise permanently secured to the flanges, 17 and 18, on the box or frame and jamb thereof respectively. By placing the clips ten inches apart on the face of the box or frame, I am enabled to.

place the sash weights from the clip-side and thus avoid the necessity of cutting openings in the jamb; I am also enabled to fill the sill with concrete at the building, as before described. The casing, 12, or finishing pieces have a length substantially equal to that'of the box or frame and they are assembled to complete the window frame, and to form a trim therefor, by placing them in position and then shoving them upwards, or longitudinally,

In Fig. 3, the stool is shown as hollow and made of sheet-metal and rolled or otherwise given an ornamental appearance to enhance the appearance of the interior side of" the window. *The stool 1 shown has a horizontal flange at its inner surface of the window sill.

The horizontal casing or finishing piece, 2, at the upper end or head of the box or frame conforms to the design of the vertical side pieces, and it has a hook-shaped piece, 21, riveted or otherwise secured to it and adapted to hook into engagement with an upper corner of the box or frame, it being understood that this horizontal casing may be and-preferably is carried or supported by the upper ends of the vertical side casings, 12, the meeting ends of these pieces being mitered, if desired, as shown in Fig. 1.

The upper or head portion of the box or frame is hollow and is constructed in a mannor well known in this art and it carries the dOW-bOX or frame having pulleys, 22, over; which the weight ropes pass. The front side of the head or upper end of the box is normally open and across this opening suitable vertical clips, 23, extend to brace the walls of the opening.

In Fig. 5, I show the box or frame as having a removable and separate jamb, 25, as distinguished from the permanent jamb of F ig. 2. When using this construction of Fig. 5, the jamb has end flanges, 25, which fit into engagement with the side edges of the box or frame; the jamb may thus be made adjustable, the adjustment beingac oomplished by means of the screws, 26.

Such a jamb is readily applied at the building by the employment of three or four temporary clips, 27, in the' window box and which clips are removed when the jamb is applied. Suchan arrangement of temporary clips braces or reinforces the edges of this open-side box or frame and permits the use of a separable jamb which is applied when the building is completed and which is not injured during the erection of the building, as a permanent jamb is likely to be.

Having thus described my. invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. The combination with a hollow window-box or frame having an open side, of a removable casing adapted to close said side, and to form an exterior finish therefor, and clips on one of the parts and hook-shaped members on the other part adapted to engage theclipswhen one part is moved relative to the other.

2. The combination with a hollow win-- her for a sash-weight, an having a normally open side, of a detachable casing adapted to fit over said open side and form anexterior finish therefor, and means for detachably securing the casing to the box said means including a clip on one of the parts andextending across the open side thereof, and. a plate fixed to the other part and having a hookshaped portion to engage said clip when one part is moved relatively to the other.
