To all whom itmwy'concem." f Beit known that I, EDwARDi-QjDoUGIAs, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residingin Chicago, Cook county, Illinois,1jhave inl; vented'certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Card.-vlalolding'v Stands, lof
ywhich the followingris afull` and correct` specicatiom reference being hadto thelac-i companying drawings, Aforming a part there.- of, and in which-- f i Y, Figure l shows my said device In'elevation, a fragment of one element broken awayto show the construction behindit. 1F1g. 2V
shows in plan view thecentral part shown in Fig. l without thetop shelfem'embers 7a and parts c and e; VFig shows the connect: ing-bars j in side view. Fig. S shows Fig. 3 in end view, and Fig. leshows the samevin plan view, flooking into its U-shaped chann nel. Fig. 5 shows, in end .view, the construction of all shelves intermediate the` end shelves. Fig. 6 shows Fig. 5 in Vside view, and Fig. 7 shows the samein top plan view. Like reference letters denote like parts throughout.
The object of Vmyinvention is to produce 'a card-stand for holding fancy post-al cards,
and like articles, for both the use of lstores and private homes and any placewhere suchV cards are stored, which shall be so convenient and at the same time, so cheap that it may be within the make useof it. Y
To attain said desirable ends I construct my said device in substantially `the following manner, namely: l providea base a provided with a central boss ci from the center of which rises an iron rod or stein Z) 'threaded and provided with anut c. Around said stem are placed four identically alike channeled uprights, each formed of a back f and two flanges g having a series of slots f2. The slots are spaced apart according to thesize of the goods the said shelves are'to hold. Said shelves consist of two bottoms h which are connected by central double walls a connected byV an arch hf, and outer Vwalls z', all integral with the part lh, andintothe front or outer ends of said arch iscut a slot 0 into which is received the U-shaped channel-bar y' provided with bosses or projectionsc integral therewith, as clearly shown inFigs.
reach of-all who canV [Patented 'rieb'.a, 1909. y
4. Said bosses are placed under the .shelf-bottoms't to 'sustain their outer ends.
Y. All' shelves intermediate the end shelves are connectedat their outer edges by means of allipfZ forming-an-integral part of all theupper parts of all intermediate shelves.
to form a clamp m which unites the said front edges of said'shelf parts firmly, neatly, and
permanently, as" clearly shown inFigs. 6 and 17, the
part Z'ibe'ing changed into the part m inthe lower half of'Fig. 7. The meeting corners of the parts f g are soldered together'V i and the said shelves are provided with tenons 79 which pass through slots f2 in the backs f and arefolded over to form hooks g which hold the back ends of said shelves firmly to place.
j Ally intermediate shelves are of the same construction `as the end shelves, the only difference between them being that the intermediate shelves consist ,of two end shelves placed back to back, thus facing in opposite v directions, as shown in Fig. 1, and united by special elements as shown in Figs; 6 and 7. The openings at each end of the central part are closed by plates CZ and e which are 'pro- ,videdl with central holes d. The plate Z turns on the boss aA and carries the structure `above it. The flanges c' hold the cards 'l' from falling out and the bar dividesV the assortment on the shelves. The hole in the top plate e fits closely to the rod b and the nut c holds the two parts, stand and shelves, together. The latter revolving freely on said stern and, thereby, making all parts easily and equally accessible. The flanged plates f, soldered at their meetingedges, form a pillar from which radiate the shelves, and their flanges g hold the inside ends of the cards r.
What I claim is:
l.V The combination with a base provided with a stem, of a sheet-metal pillar providedv with slots, centrally pierced and square pieces mounted on the ends of said pillar and on said stem and shelves'having 'end-'tenons inV said slots.
Y 2. The combination with a base provided ,with a stem, of a. sheet-metal pillar provided Vwith slots,` centrally pierced and vSaid lips Z are turned down and folded over Vthe edges of the under part ,of such shelves square end-pieces on the ends of said pillai` and on said stem, and shelves Willi tenons held in said slots, provided with lli-shaped Suppois lim/ing bussecl sides in the free @11d of said Shelves.
