BOILER-STAND.
Application filed November 25,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J an. 26, 1909.
1907. Serial No. 403,694.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE O. MILLER, a citizen oi the United States, residing at North Tonawanda, in the county of Niagara and State of New York, have invented new and useful Im rovements in Boiler-Stands, of which the fo lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in boiler-stands, and it has for its ob'ect the production of a device of this c aracter which can be ad'usted to support water-boilers of different iameters and which can be gluickly and easily assembled and as readily isassembled so that it can be shipped in compact form.
In the drawings,Figure 1 is a side elevation of a boiler-stand embodying my invention and showing the manner of supporting a boiler. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on line 2-2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on line 3-3, Fi 2. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one o the clampinglates.
Referring to the drawings in detail, like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
The reference letter A designates a boiler supported on in improved stand B. The latter consists 0 three legs which are preferably curved inward at a point between their ends so that the form in assembled condition a double-en ed tripod. The upper end of each leg has a notch O to receive the flan e D at the lower end of the boiler. Each 0 the legs is provided at the point where they closest approach each other with a pair of mwardly directed horizontally disposed lugs E connected by a vertical web F; the upper face of the upper lug and the lower face of the lower lug of each leg being curved for a purpose to be presently described. The lugs and web of each leg form a convex extension, and these extensions are directed toward the center of the stand and clamped between a pair of clamping-plates G having three channel-shaped radial extensions 9 in which the convex extensions are confined. The inner faces of said clamping-plates are concaved to correspond to, or approximately correspond to the curvature of the convex s E, and they are provided with alined bo t-holes H through which a bolt I is passed; a nut J bein applied to the threaded lower end of said bo t.
Upon loosenin the bolt slightly, the legs of the stand may e adjusted so as to further separate the u per ends of the legs or to bring them c oscr together; the convexextensions on the legs adjusting themselves between the clamping-plates for this urpose. After the legs are adjusted, it is simp y necessary to tighten the bolt, which causes the convex extensions on the legs to be tightly clamped in their adjusted position.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is,
1. In a boiler-stand, the combination of a plurality of legs approaching each other at a point between their ends and provided at such oint with inwardly directed extensions aving convex upper and lower faces, clampinglates between which said extensions are mid, and a bolt passing through said plates to clamp said extensions between the same.
2. In a boiler-stand, the combination of a plurality of legs approaching each other at a oint between their ends and provided with inwardly directed extensions at such point having upper and lower convex-faces, clampingplates between which said extensions are he having their opposing faces concaved, and means for causingsaid plates to securely clamp said extensions in tion.
3. In a boilerstand, the combination of a plurality of legs approaching each other at a point between their ends and each having a pair of inwardly directed horizontally disposed lugs at such point connected by a vertical web, said lugs having convex outer faces, concaved clampinglates between which said lugs are held, and a olt passin through said plates and having a nut applied to its threaded end.
4. In a boiler-stand, the combination of a plurality of legs approaching each other at a point between their ends, each is being provided with an inwardly directs extension having convex upper and lower faces, clamping-plates having concaved radial extensions faces of the lu any adjusted posi .0 radial channeled concave extensions in which between which the extensions on the legs are I the convex extensions of the legs are held, held, and means for clam ing the extensions and a bolt passin through said lates and of the legs between said p ates. having a nut applied to its threa ed end.
5. In a boiler-stand, t e combination of a In testimony whereof, I have affixed my L plurality of legs curved to approach each signature in the presence of two subscribing 15 other closest at a point between their ends, Witnesses. each leg being provided With an inwardly directed extension having convex upper and lower faces. a pair of clamping-plates having GEORGE O. MILLER. Witnesses:
