ELECTRIC BELT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 19,1909.
Application filed July 12, 1907. Serial No. 383A05.
T 0 all whom it may concern-,-
Be it known that we, A RAHAM HORINUNG, merchant, residing at tzarna, near Pilzno, Galicia, and lslnon Srnmaxc, merchant, residing at 12 lireitegiasse, 'larm pol, Galicia, Austria-llungary, both subjects of the Emperor of Austria-llungary,i have invented new and useful lmprovedlents' in Electric Belts or Bands, of whirh lhe following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide convenient and satisfactory means for sending a current of electricity through some part of a person, on the occurrence of a given movement or event. It may also serve as a silent timealarm.
To this end the said invention consists in the construction and combination of parts hereinafter more particularly set forth and claimed.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of apparatus cmbtnlying our invention, applicdto a persons wrist or forearm.
On a band 1. or a similar article or part metal contact plates 2 are fastened and are connected by wires 3 with a source of cur-- rent 4-, the most advantageous form of which is a dry battery. The power of the current from this battery can be altered. by means of an inductor 5. A clock 6 is switched into this circuit and is arranged in the. ordinary way so that .it will close the circuit at a certain llX0(l moment. It is a good plan to have the head of the clock made as an incandesried in the pocket. The mode of attachment shown in the drawing :is particularly suitable for travelers by railway and in such cases the battery and the clock can be carried. in the vest pockets and the wires passed through the armholes. It will of course be understood that the strength of current, that thc= person using the appliance can stand, must previously be ascertained and the inductor set accordin ly. Having now particular iy described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in what manner. the same is to be performed and what we desire to secure by Letters-Patent is: i i 1. A band adapted to be fastened about the wrist or other part of a person and provided with contacts arranged at interval to send an electric current through the flesh,
irrcombination with a source of electricity,
circuit conductors and a watch switched into the circuit and arranged to close the same when the hands, indicate a certain time on the dial;
2. A band adapted to be fastened on a person and provided with contacts arranged to send anelectric current through the flesh,- in combination with a generator, and cond uctors of said current, a time piece switched into the circuit to close the same when the hands point to a certain time and an electric lamp attached to said time piece, arranged in said circuit and serving as an additional indication or alarm,
In testimony whereof we ail'ix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
