ii gfit filif tiiil DABNEY COSBY, OE COLUMBIA, VZRGINIAC Application "mad Hay 331;
To all whom it mati; concern:
Be it known that I, Dumsr Cossr. a citison of the United States, residing at *Goiuoy his in the county of hluvnnnu and State Virginia, have invented s. new and useful Improvement in Message-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to message hoidors for delivering messages to the engineer of the train when in motion, tho object to provide a holder so constructed that the message can be folded and inserted into the some so that it can be readily grasped by thwonginssr when passing a station without any danger of the operator being: thrown ofi' his foot by being caught hold of by tho ongineer While trying to grasp the mess-ago out of his hand.
Another object of my invention is to provide o holder which is very simple and cheap in construction, and one which will hold the message so that it can be readily slipped out of the same when grasped o the hand.
With these and other objects in view, tho invention consists in the novel features construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, i show a perspective tlQW of my improved holdor which is formed of a single piece of wire looped centrally and twisted upon itself to form a handle J the ends being bent out I Specification 0?? Lottors Patent.

Wnrdly to form a fork, the extreme ends ing looped and twisted upon themselves to form spaced clamping rings between which tho message adapted to be securely held.
It will be seen that on envelop can be easily and quickly placed between the spaced clamping rings J which "will socnrcly hold the some by frictional Contact, of the rings so that all danger of the envelop becoming accidentally detached is prevented.
From tho foregoing description, it will be seen that I have provided a. message holder which is exceedingly cheap ond'simpic in con truction and one which is formed of a singio piece of wire and which is so boot and twisted as to form clamping rings at its end which will securely hold the envelop so that it can be readily grasped at the center.
Having thus -fully described my invention, hat I claim as new and desire to so cure by Letters Patent is:--
A message holder comprising a single piece of wiro boot and twisted upon itself to form a handle having outwardly-extending: curved and portions forming a fork, the ends of said portions being coiled and twistctl upon themselves to form spaced clamping rings for holding it message.
