To all 'whom it lmay concern: Be it known that I, BLooM V. KAGA, a citizen of the United States, residing at: Rockaway, in the county' of Senecaand @tite of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful 'Improvements in Railway-Titi' of which the following is a specifcatioih/ My invention relates to an' improvement in steel ties, and the object is to provide a hollow tie having supporting plates over the top adapted to strengthen the tie and sustain` the weight of the rails. and the rolling stock traveling thereon. Y

The invention consists in certain other novel features of construction and coinbination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 :2 is alongitudinal sectional view; and Fig. 3 is an end view. f

,A represents the hollow U shaped metal tie and l is an opening formed iu the bottom of the t-ie to permit water to issue tl'lrough. The ridge 6 is formed on vthe'plates against which can oe very i adil' vthe sides of the tie which the rails a tait and slots 8 are formed on the plates for the reception of bolts 9 which extend through clamps l0, 10 and the latter overlap the l'ialiges off the rail and rest diagonally against the weh whereby the rail rin'idl'v held in position.
