B e it known that I ,HJULIaNt BAILEY, a citizenfof, thejUnitedi'States, and a resi# dentlof Coatesville, Chester count ,Pennf .sylvama, have lnvented certain' Amprove- .-ments 1n Folding Washb'asins, of which the followingis a speciiication. 1
My invention yrelates .to Washbasins of the type, adapted to be Amow'fably mounted adjacent an ordinary bath-tub so as to of beingvfolded back against the wall 'when not 1n use.
My invention comprises lcertain novel pointed out hereinafter, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which'.
Figure 1, is a sectional elevation of av tub with my improved wash basin in place thereon, showmg in dotted lines the positiony of the same-when not in use; Fig. 2, is a planfview of a part of the tub, showing the' asin resting'thereon, and Fig. 3, is an en,- larged view illustrating a detail of my in vention.
Carried by the back rim 1 of the'tub 2 is a bracket A3, which maybe secured to said position without additional yfastening means 1n the manner, for instance, as' illustrated', in which the bracket carries a return por.
-tion 4 engaging the under'edge of said rim. Hinged -to the bracket at 5 1s a member 6 having a lon ltudinal slot V7 therein, and
adapted to sald slot is the contracted end 8 of a plate 9, which plate is suitably apertured for the reception ofa wash basin 10. The
wash basin is secured to said plate by the screws-11. The plate 9 extendsforwardly tov a point substantially above the front rim of the tub, and carried by said plate and adapted to rest on said front rim is a su vort 12 hinged thereto at 13 so as to fo d back against the under side of the plate l when the latter is raised :to the position shown by dotted lines in Fig. 1.
Carried by the plate 9 is a faucet 14 arranged to deliver water into the basin, and
connecting .said faucet with the ordinary spigots of the bath-tub, which are preferably arran ed with a common outlet, is a hose 15, w ch should be long enough to render detachment unnecessary, if such condition sition;V the structure when such l ing. beyond the pivot point ofthe racket.v

I claim: i 1.' The combination of a bracket adapted to engage a'bath-tub rim, a slotted member carried thereby, anfapertured plate .hav-in a'contracted portion entering said slotte member whereby said'A late may be adjustd) bracket, and a basin 2. The combination of a bracket adapted' to engage the rim of a bath-tub, a slotted member hinged to said bracket, an a ertured supporting plate having a contracte ortion entering said slotted lmember where y said structure may be adjustable with respect to the bracket, a basin mounted in said a er-` Atured supporting plate, a faucet carrie by said plate, and a connection between said faucet and a source of water'supply.
3. The combination of a bracket adapted tcrengage the rim at one'side of a bath-tub, a slotted member hinged thereto, an a ertured supporting plate having` a contracte portion entering said slotted member, a basin secured to said plate-within yits aperture, and a sup-' port on the outer end of said basin structure adapted to rest on the-rim at the opposite side of the bath-tub.
4. The combination of a bracket adapted@ to engage the rim oi a bath-tub, a'slotted member hin ed thereto, a plate having a con-l tracted portion adapted to engage said slotted member, asupport for the outer'end of saidf and resting on the rim of the tub, .and a carried `by said. plate.
5.; combinatiomwith. a batl` tublhav-l tracted portion entering said slotted memberv whereby said plate is adjustable with respect to said bracket for engagement with tubs of diierent Widths, a support for the outer end of said plate, means for holding said plate in engagement with the slotted member when adjusted, and a basin fitting the aperture of -said plate.
' 7. The combination, with a bath-tub, of a 20 bracket adapted to engage a rim thereof, a slotted member hinged thereto, a plate hav ing a contracted portion adapted to engage" said slotted member, asupport for the outer end of said plate, said support being hinged Q5 thereto and resting on the rim of the tub, and a basin secured to said plate.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my 1 name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses. Y
