The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sanne.
To all 'whom it concern Beit known that I, GEORGE FOWLER, of Philmont, in the State of' New York, have invented a new and usefulv Improvement in Eccentric-Straps; and I do to give the eccentric more or less room to work in, 'as may be desired.` l
ATo enable those skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I n ow proceed to describe its construction and operation.
Siniilar letters in thedrawings refer to like parts.
In the drawng- A. represents an eccentric, placed on the shaft B.
C is the eccentric-rod.
E is the eccentric-strap, the same being metal, and
elastic, passed around the eccentric, and fastened to the rodO rigidly, at one end, by means of screws, or the like, while its other end terminates in a. screwbolt, e, which extends through a hole i'n the arm c of the eccentric-rod, and, by means of a nut on the upper side of the same, may be tightened ,vor loosened, at pleasure.
A pad, d, may be placed between the strap and the eccentric, if desired.
By this arrangement, the eccentric is made to work without rattle or jar, and, Whenever the parts work loose by friction, theyl may be tightened up again by the screw and nut. f
The device is applicable to'anyeccentric, in whaty soever sort of a machine it may be used.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letf ters Patent, is-
Attaching a connecting-rod to its eccentric, by means of an elastic metallic strap,-capable of being tightened or loosened, at pleasure, substantially in the manner as described.
