Closets, of which the 'following is a specilie at ion.
This invention has relation to water closets, and has lor its object the provision of a water (closet ot novel construction particularly adapted for use in jails, penitentiaries and similar institutions. I
The principal object ot iny invention is to provide a water eloset which will be supported above the lloor'ot' the cell or other apartment, without restingvon or touchingr the floor. l
In carrying my invention into effect, l provide a water closet having an integral Siphon outlet and drag leg, the latter being provided ai; its outlet end with a vertical tlange by means of which the closet is attaehed to a vertical flange rarried by a branch of a Soil pipe disposed within the wall line of the cell or apartment.
ln the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated my invention: Figure l is a plan View showing the closet attac-ned to the soil pipe. Fig. 2 is a Vertical sectional view of the saine. Fig. is a rear elevation, partly in section, of the closet; detached from the soil pipe.
The bowl of the closet is designated 1 and is provided'with the flushing rim 2, which is formed of a separate piece from the bowl as shown. The bowl l is formed with a Siphon outlet comprising the up limb 3, and the down limb 4, and the latter opens into a drag leg 5, which is termed integral with the Siphon outlet and the bowl, the outlet, end of the drag leg being disposed hori zontally as shown atI G, and surrounded by a vertically disposed flange 7. The llange is substantially oval in shape, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, and extends up to a point sub-- stantially in alinement. with the upper surt'aee ofthe flushing riin Q. The flange 7, is toi-ined with a number ot holes S. which serve to receive bolts 9 by means ol' whit-h the flange l' is allarhed lo a similarly shaped vertically disposed fianetl0, rarrir-d hv the substantially l'iorizontally disposed braneh 11 oi' a soil pipe l2. t
.l vertiffal rib l2 formed integral with the flangi- 'ltk th(l branch l t and the soil pipo l2, and sei-ws to strengthen these parts and assists in withstanding the strain to which they are subn jet'ted by the weight ot' tie water closet.
vertieal rib l-l whieh ronneolsv the upper part ot' this llange and the upper portion ot' the sirphon outlet and serves 'to .strengthen these parts. The outlet end l5, ot the drapA le;r terminates in a flange '1 -i which pro- Vtrudes beyond the llange 7 and extends into the branch ll ol` the soil pipeI l2. The. lloor line olC the (coll or apartment is designi'xled lli and the wall ol the salue l? and the soil pipe li). loeinfr as shown, lof-ated outside olI the wall line with the llange ltl nearly flush with the wall line. the surliare nl' the llanoi 'l' will Point-ide with surh wall line. ."t llt-xi ble gasket. 1S is interposed between the langes T and l2 to secure a water tight joint.
The closet being constructed as desrrilwd and shown is, it will bo observed, supported a considerable distanfe above the lloor and entirely elear of the saine and roulforins to the standard' sanitary retptireinents in all particulars, there being no lloor connections' to permit lodguient of dirt and the lloor bel l l "he llange T is ln'ovidt-d with an integral srrubbing and the 'loset bowl, siphon outlet and drag lefhr being in a single piefe devoid ol' all. joints between the bowl and the llange on the braneh ot the soil pipe.
I claim:
l. The combination of a water closet naing an 'integral Siphon, a drag le l', a rearwardly extending horizontal outliet extension, a pierced flange surrounding said outlet extension and a web extending from the apex of the Siphon and Connecting the said tlange with the siphon and outlet extension., with a soil pipe havingr a horizontally disyliosed braneh, a vertiral pierred flange :ar rind by `said brunt-h. bolts exlent'liug through both vsaid flanges and a web ronntfling the flange on the said branch with the soil pipe.
2. The rouibinalion ol' a water rlosel, haviutr an integral siphon evlonsion and drag leg terminating in a horizontal outlet, a ven a web extending front the apex ol' said siphon and count-(ting said flange and said siphon exlensiounvilh a soil pipe having La horizontal brunch. a vertical flange Surirouuding said branch, bolts extendingr {thi-oo b said flange and an integral web low the vloset. beingjr readily arressihle for tical, pierced, flange surrfuimlilur said outlet.
3. The herein described closet, comprisin the bowl 1 having formed integral 'therewi and projecting rearwardly therefrom an outlet extension' containing the Siphon up limb 3, Siphon down limb 42 drag leg 5, and upl wsu-diy ,extending terminal 6, the last named provided with the external flange 7 the strengthening web 14 extending from the apex of the si hon and adapted and designed to be secure to the soil ipe extension and to Whollyy support the c oset bowl above the floor. v
4. A' Waterf'fcloset structure comprising e bowl, siplnonzf'` and drag leg, composed of 'on integral casting having the Siphon and drag being and with leg portion' extende rearwardly of the closet bowl, ami terminating in a. horizontal boss leading to the Soil pipe, seid Si hon and drag leg extension being forme with a flange suirounding Said boss, and with a Ver-V In testimony whereof I aiix my signature,
in presence of two witnesses. l
