Be 1t known that I, OTTO FoRsTnR, a citi- Zen Vof the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the vState of Maryland, have invented certa-in Improvements in Bar-Fixtures, of which the following is a full and complete specification. My invention is an improvement in storefurniture, and has particular reference to what may bev termed a bar-fixture or counter especially adapted for use in restaurants or bar-roms. f

The principal objects of my invention are l to provide a bar fora'estaurants or bar-rooms which shall be attractive in appearance, and in which the parts constituting the fixture as a whole are so constructed and arranged as to economize space and make it ,'more convenient for the bar-tender to Await upon his customers.

With these principal objects in view my invention consists in making the bar or tixture circular in shape or in the form of a large barrel with a surrounding counter, and furnishing the interior of the same with certain devices or appliances 0i' peculiar construction; all as hereinafter fully described and cglaimed.

In carrying out my invention the body portion or framework of the bar is constructed in the form of a large barrel either round' or oval-shaped, comprising the vertical staves 5, which are connected at top and bottom to the heads 6 and 7, respectively, and the structure braced or reinforced by l metal bandsor hoops 8 near each end. In

the present instance the u per head G of the barrel forms the ceiling o the bar or fixture, while the lower head 7 formsythe floor, and the circular,- wall formed by the staves is bulged outward to the same extent as is customary in the ordinary form of whiskybarrel. 1

The counter projects a suitable distance from the body of the xture, and is supported by brackets 11. At one side of the frame the counter is provided with a hinged section 9, which is adapted to fold down, as shown in Directly above Athe counter the barrelshaped fixture or bar is provided with several openings, as shown, which 4are finished ot' around the edges with ornamental molding strips, as 13, the said openings being of suitable size so thatthe bartender who is standing within the bar .may serve the customers standing on the outside. The vertical walls 14.J between the openings are each providedon its inner side with vertical strips 15, which are groovcd at one. edge, as at 16, to receive certain removable devices hereinafter described, said strips having openings 17 through which lugs on the removable devices pass. The strips are provided with holes Athrough which removable attaching screws 18 pass.

In some instances. as when the device is placed against `a wi ll, one or more Tf the openings towards the wall may be closed. In Fig. 1 I have shown this application of the device, in which three ot' the openings in the rear are closed. These are closed by panels 19, in the form ot' mirrors, and between the mirrors are shel'ves 20, upon which may be placedglasscs, liquor-bottles, and other articles. Each shelf and its supporting bracket 21 may be, and preferably is, 'formed integrally with its supporting panel-frame, and said panel-frame isv provided at its four corners with lugs 15)u adapted to pass through the openings 1T of the supporting strips 15 and engage the groove, said openings being so located that the lugs will rest in the grooves below the same.

As shown in Fig. si of the drawings, one of the removable panels may be in the torm of a cashiers screen, as Q5, adapted to fit the lower part of one of the openings, and prowhich is not only attractive in appearance,

Within the barrel-shaped frame, and upon the bottom thereof, is a stand 26, providing shelve's on which may-be supported the usual articles forming the complement of a bar.

This stand is preferably located at the center of the bar, so that the bar-tender may pass around the same.

As will be readily seen vI provide a bar but will also provide a very useful and convenient fixture for a restaurant or bar-room,

inasmuch as a bar-tender stationed therein may readily and conveniently serve a large number of customers.

In some instances, for instance for a large trade, the device would be placed in the center of a restaurant or bar-room, and 1n this instance none of the openings would be closed, so that customers could be served all around the device. On the other hand, for

.i a small trade, or for lack of space, the device may be placed against a wall, and in this instance the openings towards' the wall would be closed by thepanels and shelves and thereby provide supports for glasses, bottles, and

- other articles, and the folding section of th counter swung down. n

Having thus described my invention, I claim: v
