Description

M. ROGK STROH. BLANKET HOLDING ATTACHMENT. APPLICATION mum MAR. 11, 1906.
899,326. Patented Sept. 22', 1908.
THE RORRTS' PF. rznswa, WASHINGTON, Ix
MAX ROOKSTROH, OF KLEIN-SEDLITZ, NEAR PIRNA, GERMANYI BLANKE T-HOLDING ATTACI-DVEENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 22, 1908.
Application filed March 11, 1908. Serial No. 420,514.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that 1, MAX RooKsTRoH, director, citizen of the Kingdom of Saxony, residing at Klein-Sedlitz, near Pirna-on-theElbe, Villa Liitzow, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blanket-Holding Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in blanket holding attachments for platens and. more particularly to an improvement in the nature of a tightening frame for said blanket.
This invention relates to a device for holding in position the overlay upon the face of the platen, especially at the upper tightening frame. This frame consists, as is well-known, of a cross-bar supported by pivotally mounted arms, which after the overlay has been placed in position and drawn tight rests on the upper projecting edge of the overlay and, under the action of a spring presses the same into a semi-circular groove in the platen and thus keeps it tightly stretched.
The arms which support the bar have.
hitherto usually been pivoted to the sides of the platen close to its surface and have been liable to bend over in the forward direction in such manner as to come between the platen and the bed plates and thus to cause damage.
Now this invention obviates the aforesaid difficulty by placing the fulcrum of the upper tightening frame so far to the rear of the platen surface that when the frame is turned down its cross-bar falls to the rear of the platen.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows a platen in side view with the upper tightening frame folded back, Fig. 2 is a view of the upper tightening frame in the working position and Fig. 3 is a plan view of Fig. 2.
The clamping bar a is carried by lateral arms 0 which are provided with slots and are rotatable around pins 1) arranged at the side of the platen, the pins I) being located so far to the rear of the edge of the platen as to prevent the frame, when folded forward, from projecting over the upper edge of the platen. In order to bring the frame into the working position, it is ulled up as shown in Fig. 2, so that the pins ffare brought to the lower ends of the slots in the lateral arms 0 and that the bar .a can pass easily over the clamping springs, whereupon the frame is pushed down, bringing the pins 6 to the upper ends of their slots and the bar a beneath the spring.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
In combination, a platen body, a blanket holding frame therefor, comprising a cross bar and slotted arms carried at the ends of said cross bar, ivot pins carried by said body and engaged fhrough the slots of the said arms, said body having a face formed with a transverse groove to receive said cross bar and springs projecting over said groove to confine said cross bar therein, said arms being pivotally and slidably movable with relation to said pins.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MAX ROCKSTROH. Witnesses:
PAUL ARRAs, CLARE SIMON.
