Bc it. known that we, JOHN'Y. BAssnLi. and FRED C.' BLENKNER, citizens of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State' of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful` Iinorovement ir. Gini-Sights, of which the fo owing is a speciiicationf.
Y The object of the invention is 4to provide a simplified rear sight more especially adapt-- edforuseon what .a-reknown as sporting rifles.
Brielly, the; invention consists of a. sighting member inclu-dinge sight disk provided with a plurality of sight apertures, un open orV notch sight on thessigliting member, a suporting-plate oibar lor said sighting niemer adapted for attachment to the rifle barrel, mechanism for adjusting said plate verticall with res ect to the barrel to provide for e evation o the sighting member, and mechanism for adjusting the plate laterally of the barrel to provide for ivi-ndage correction.

The inner surface of the disk 7 is rovided with a series of notches, one of W iic'li is indicated in cross section in Fig. .7 at 7b, to receive a projection b'on the inner surface of the sight .leali whereby the-sight disk is latclicd in the sighting position of the several sights, the sight disk eing yieldii'igly held against the sight leaf by means of a small j coil spring I8 seated in a pocket in the disk and bearing against the head of the 'screw 7d secured to the sicht leaf 5 and forniing'the pivot for are Sigia (usi. The Sigia disk is inilled on its rini to permit the rotation there- 'V of with the thumb or finger.
It will be seen that the sight leaf 5 can be moved on its pivot to vertical position for` sighting through the apertures in the disk or to horizontal position for bringing the open or notch sight 3 into sighting osition. 'To latch or hohl the sight leaf in t e respectivo positions thereof a small plate spring 9 is seated in the supporting late, which spring engages respectively the )ase ofthe leaf t0 hold the same in vertical osition and the rear face of' the leaf to hol( it in horizontal position. lt is obvious that. the device provides for a wide ranfe. of conditions in sport shooting or other uses to which the device may be a plicd and furthermore the device is ofsimp e construction, irotrudes but slightly above 40 the rifle barrel, and may be adjusted with facility and great accuracy to meet visual capabilities of the shooter, to compensate for the etiect of. wind and to provide for various atmospheric conditions.

A gun sight comprising, in coinbinzv tion, `a p ivotcd sight lea-f, a rotatable member thereon provided with sight-ing openings of various sizes the sighting centers of which are located equally distant from thc axis of rot-ation of the rotatable member, said sight leaf having extending therefrom a member havingr a sight. notch, a plat-e to support the pivoted sight leaf, and means for adjusting said ilate laterally with reference to the barrel to provideor windage, and means for raisinv and lowering said leaf and its pivotal connection.

A gun sight comprising, in combination, a spring plate provided at its rear end with a suitable sighting device, and at its forward end with means for attaching it to a barrel, said plate provided with an inclined surface :it its'junder side., a'. wedge having a continuously straight edge to work between eaaozov said plate and the barrel and located to copcrate with said inclined surface of the plate, and a cam device carried by said wedge and movable with reference thereto to tix the wedge in ence to said plate for-thc purpose explained.

A gun sight comprising, in combination, a spring plate provided at its rear with a suitable sighting device, meansfor attaching said plate at its forward end to a barrel, 75 said plate provided with an inclined surface at its under side and with an inclined slot, a' wedge to work between the plate and the barrel and located to cooperate with said sighting device can be regulated, and a pin connecting said wedge to said 'plate and cx-` tending into said slot. A gun sight comprising, in combination, a springt plate provided at its rear end with a S5 suitable sight-ing device, means for attachinv said plate at its forward end to a barrel, sail plate provided with an inclined surface at its under side and with an inclined slot, a wedge to Work between the pla-te and the barrel and 'so located to cooperate with said inclined sur# face wherebv the elevation of the sighting device can e regulated, a pin connecting said wedge to said V)late and extending into said slot, and a seal provided with an indicator to indicate the elevation. of said sighting device.

A gun sight comprising, in combination, a spring plate provided at its rear end attaching said plate at its forward end to a barrel, a wedge device to work betweensaid 'plate and the barrel whereby elevation of the sighting device mm be regulated, and means means laterally with refcrenceAt-o the barrel to compensate for indaga. j
