Oregon, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Revoluble Cabinet-Files, of

v which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompaniying draw-- ings, as constituting a art thereo This invention has' or its object to obtain a cabinet containing a revoluble drum-like inner case, which is provided on its periphery with a lurality of pockets, adapted to receive ro ls of draWin s, files of pa ers, and the like; and the who e so arrange as to afford convenient access to such papers.

I attain my object by the devices, illustrated in the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a cross-section of m cabinetfile in its entirety; Fig. 2 is an en elevation thereof 5 Fig. 3 shows in its left half a front elevation, and in its right half the casing of my cabinet cut away so as to disclose the interior arrangement of the revoluble drum; and Figs. 4, 5, and 6 are details of construction, which will be more fully described in the body of the specification. Referring now to the letters as desi natthe parts described. The case o my ca inet comprises front and rear walls a, a', a top b, and sldes c, all of which parts are affixed to a sudpporting-frame comprising standards e an horizontal sills j; `and the case is mounted on casters g. On the end sills f are aiiixed boxes j, in which to receive the trunnien-axles of the revoluble drum K. Such trunnion-axles consist of plates 1', made with cylindrical rojections' 1", and the lates r, are fastened) to the ends k of the rum, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. The drumvcomprises a hollow casing or body divided, by ongitudinally extending partitions l, l', l, into a series of compartments m, n, respectively provided with hinged doors o, p. The hinges by which such doors are fastened to the spring-controlle ype, so that when 4a door has been opened and released, it will close itself. The compartments m, are designed for rolls of drawings or pa ers, while the larger compartments n, are esigned to hold odly, may be made to be of the files of papers, and 'therefore are preferably sub-divided by transverse partitions, arranged side by side in conformity with the labeling of the covers, Ip, of such compartments, as shown in Fig. 3. v

The front wall of the cabinet is made With a door s, so that access to the compartments of the drum may also be had through the front of the case; and the end Walls of the cabinet are made with hinged doors t, to give access to the bearings'of the drum, when required. '4

To prevent the papers placed Within the larger compartments n, tumbling about whlle the drum is being rotated, I ind it convenient to provide steel spring-bands n', one end of which is attached to the wall of the com artment,l and the other end being free so t at it may be lifted to insert the files of pa ers under it.

n order to hold the drum in any position required to give access to the compartments m or n, either through the top cover h or the front door s, I affix to one of the ends of the drum a circular iece u, made with notches u', and on the silly' contiguous thereto I affix a spring v made with a head v', as shown in Fig. 6, and adapted to engage with such notches u.

The back of the cabinet-casing a may be made with an extension a2, supporting a bracket-shelf w, and .the front part of the` base of the cabinet-case is best made to recede at an angle, as shown at a3, Figs. 1 and 2, soas to provide room for the feet, While sitting or standing inl front ofmy cabinet.

The top of my cabinetl'is constructed to serve as a desk.

A file-cabinet comprising an outer casing made with hinged opening sections, a drum rotatably mounted therein, on a horizontal axis, and provided with partitions as Z, Z', l, whereby the same is divlded in'to a plurality of compartments, as m, n, spring-bands affixed in the larger compartments and adapted to clamp the papers placed in such comartments in place, and spring-door closures or all the compartments.
