Be it known that I. Pnnc IlULnifaD, a subject of the King of Great-Britain, residing at 150 Lcadenhall street, London, England,
have invented new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Removing Sediment from Steain-Boileis, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to mechanical boiler cleaning apparatus of the kind described in the speciication of formel' United States Letters Patent Xo. 632,735 of 1899 wherein the use of draw-ofi heads is described, each of which is forinedwitli a series oi' inclined openings through which the scum or other inipnrities are renioved or blown off. I'Iithcrto these draw-oil heads have been made rigid and have had to be specially adapted to the particular situations in which they are to be fixed.
The. object of inv invention is to provide an apparatus which may he readily adapted to any desired shape or contour according to the position in which it is to be placed and to this end in v invention consists in the use of llexible draw-of`f heads.
In )ractice I malle use of spirally wound metallic tubing and I provide for attaching to or forming upon the convolutions thereof nozzles ha ving inclined openings which correspond with the openings hitherto cast in the draw-olf heads. 'ith this arrangement it will be undeistood that the draw-ofi` head can be made of any desired length and bent in any desired manner according to requirements.
To enable niv invention to be fully understood I will describe the saine by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a sectional plan of a locomotive fire box provided with my improvedsediment remover, and Fig. 2 is a seetionalside view of the saine. Fig 3 is a sectional view of a nozzle. Fig. 4 is a sectional plan of a. coinbincd joint and nozzle shown in F ig. 1 drawn to an enlarged scale, and Figs. 5 and 6 are respectively an end view and a longitudinal section of one portion of the saine. Fig. 7 is a view similar to 5 of another portion of the said joint- Figs. S and 9 are respectively an end elevation and a longitudinal section of an end nozzle. Fig. 10 is a side view of the draw-oll` connections. and Fig. 11 is asection on the line 11-11. Fig. 10.

It will be understood that the arrangement of the 'fitting will he .varied according to requirements to suit the particular boiler to which my' invention is to be applied.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nat-ure of my said invention and in what manner the saine is to be performed, I declare that what I-claim isz- 1. An apparatus for removing sediment from steam boilers comprisiiw a lexibletube, nozzles provided at intervzs in said tube through which the sediment may be drawn and means for dischargingr the sediment outside of the boiler, substantially as described.

A11 apparatus for removing sediment from steam boilers comprising flexibletubing, a plurality of nozzles provided at intervals in said tubing, Said nozzles having inclined apertures, through which the sediment may be drawn from tzhe boiler, and means for discharging same from the boiler, substantially as described.
3. An apparatus for removing sediment from steam boilers comprising flexible tubing, downwardly projecting nozzles provided on said tubing and adapted to support the same, whereby sediment may be drawn from the boiler and means for discharging same
