To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that 1, MrrsUYA KUZE, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a newand Improved Sleeve-Holder, of which the following is a My invention relates to holders for sleeves, hose and the like, my more particular object being to provide a holder admitting o-f a considerable variety of uses and possessing certain constructional advantages hereinafter described.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a side elevationvshowing my improved holder employed for the purpose of supporting a sleeve, Fig. 2 is an enlarged central section upon the line 2`2 of Fig.` 1, looking in the direction of the arrow and showing how the holder is secured upon an armlet, and. further showing how it grips a portion of the sleeve, this view also showing how the device permits the sleeve to be practically lengthened and shortened; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view of the holder complete, showing it as it appears when removed from the sleeve and armlet.

A frame-piece 4 having substantially the form of a letter J (see Fig. 2) is iitted internally with a spring 5, the latter being of substantially U-shape,- as will be understood from Fig. 2. Hinges 6 support a lever 7, the latter being provided with a foot 8, which engages a portion 9, of the U-shaped spring 5. By turning the lever 7 by aid of the fingers, the foot 8 can be caused to push the portion 9 inwardly, or to allow it to move outwardly, as desired, lwithin limits permitted by other parts, as will be understood from Fig. 2.

An armlet is shown at 10, and may be gripped firmly by pressure of the portion 9 of the spring 5. Mounted upon the framepiece 4 is a plate 11, having a tongue 11 integral therewith. This plate 11 is provided with

12, 14, and terminates in a lip 19 which may be readily grasped by the fingers. At 20 is shown a sleeve which may beof ordinary construction. A portion 21 of this sleeve may be doubled within the compartment 15.

My invention is used as follows: The armlet 10 is placed upon the arm outside of the sleeve. The holder is next secured upon the armlet by inserting the upper edge of the frame-piece 4 underneath the armlet, so that the latter lies parallel with the U spring 5.

In order to do Vthis the lever 7 is first forced `out so as to allow the portion 9 of the U spring 5 to hug closely to the adjacent portion of the frame-piece 4. This being done and the holder being in the desired position, the lever 7 is brought downward. It closes with a snap and holds the portion 9 of the U spring 5 firmly against the upper edge vof the armlet 10. This secures the holder in position upon the armlet. grasps the lip 19 and forces the jaw 15 ontwardly, as it turns readily upon the hinge 16. A portion of the sleeve above the armlet is now grasped by the iin'gers and doubled so as to make a fold 21. This is inserted within the compartment 15a, or in other words, is This jaw is now swung backward into the position indicated in Fig. 2, so that the corrugations 17,18 mate the corrugations 12, 13, and thus hold the sleeve iirmly in position.'

1t will be noted that the sleeve is shortened to an extent, equaling the aggregate length of the fold 21 and the continuation of the sleeve abovethis point to a point approximately level with that of the lip 19. To take up or let out the sleeve, the position of the armlet 10 is not necessarily changed. To effect this purpose, more or less of the sleeve is doubled up and forced into the aperture 15a, or in other words, the fold 21 is made'to take up more or less of the sleeve.
