FOOT-SCRAPER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WARD W. LINCOLN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rock Falls, in the county of Whiteside and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foot-Scrapers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention has reference to foot scrapers, and is specially designed to be used in connection with concrete walks, the device be ing placed in position during the construction of the walk.

The preferred form of my device, and one modified form thereof, are shown and de scribed herein, to which particular constructions I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself, as other changes in the form thereof can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective, showing my invention as it appears when in use. Fig. 2 is an end view of the device. Fig. 3 shows the lower face thereof, with the device inverted. Fig. 4 is a plan view of a modified form of my invention. Fig. 5- is a vertical cross-section in the line :c:c of Fig. 4.

Similar parts are representedby corresponding numerals throughout the several figures.

The device comprises a casing having a sloping bottom plate 1, and end plates 2.

3 is a scraper blade, held in recesses e in the inner faces of the plates 2, such plates being provided with enlarged portions 5, to permit the forming of the recesses. On their outer faces the plates 2 are provided with ribs 6 and flanges 7 connecting therewith,

face of the walk, and the side edges of such plates being even with the side facing of the walk. The spaces on each side of the ribs 6 become filled with the cement, so that when the same has thoroughly hardened the device is locked from upward or outward movement by the ribs 6 and flanges 7. hen the foot is applied to the scraper, when in use, the pressure tends to force the plate 1 downwardly in its bed, but this tendency is overcome by the ribs 6, and also by the rib 8 on the lower face of the plate.

In Figs. 4 and 5 is shown a construction of my device wherein the plate 1 is provided with an opening 10, in which is held a pro jecting portion 11 of the concrete, which aids in holding the plate 1 from lateral movement.

In thisform of the device the rib onthe lower face of the plate 1 is extended around the edge of the opening 10, and the walls of the opening are upwardly flaring, preventing the strip 11 from becoming disengaged from the plate.

The scraper bar 3 is preferably inclined outwardly, as shown in the drawings, to facilitate the operation of cleaning the shoes, and a sufficient space is left between the lower edge of the scraper and the plate 1 to permit the device to be easily cleaned.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:

1. A device of the class named, comprising an inclined bottom plate a pair of end plates, integral therewith; engaging ribs on the outer faces of said end plates; and a scraper-bar, fixed at its ends in said end plates, so as to leave a. space between said bar and the bottom plate, substantially as shown and described.

2. A device of the class named, comprising a bottom plate, provided on its lower face with a longitudinal rib; a pair of end plates, integral therewith, and provided on their outer faces with engaging ribs; and a scraper bar, supported at its ends in said end plates, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
