Description

- PATENTED JULY 14,1908.
H. WBWERKA. ,TOBACCO PIPE.
APPIOATION FILED PEB. 261908.
HENRY WEWERKA, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOB ACCO-PIPE Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 14, 1908;
Application filed February 26, 1908. Serial No. 417,809.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HENRY WEWERKA, a' citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tobacco-Pipes, of which the following is a specification.
This inventionl relates to a tobacco pipe which effectively excludes the nicotin and moisture precipitated within the bowl, from the smokers mouth. A,
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section, partly in side view, of my improved tobacco pipe, and Fig. 2 a cross section on line 2-2, Fig. 1.
Within the pipe bowl 10 is removably suspended a first or;outer cup 11 having a flange 12 that is supported upon the top of the bowl. Within cup11 is nested a removable second or inner cup 18 vwhich has a flange 14 resting upon flange 12. Inner cup 13 is shorter and of less diameter than cup 11, and the latter is in turn shorter and of less diameter than the hollow of bowl 10. The bottom of cup 13 is provided with a number of perforations 15, while a perforation 16 is formed in the side of cup 11, some distance above perforations 15.
The bore 17 of pi e stem 18 communicates with bowl 10 by a uct 19 openin into bore 17, some distance above the ower end thereof.
In use, the tobacco is filled into inner cup 13, the smoke passing through perforations 15 into bottom of outer cup 11, and thence rising within said cup, will pass through perforation 16 into bowl 10, to escape through duct 19 into the stem. The nicotin will flow from cup 13 into cup 11, where it will become entrapped owing to the elevation of opening 16 above openings 15. Any liquid products of condensation from the smoke will be deposited in bowl 10, without coming into contact with the tobacco. The saliva. from the smokers mouth will become en.-l trapped within the bottom of bore 17, so that a clean smoke is insured.
l claim:
1. A tobacco pipe provided with a bowl, an outer perforated cup having a flange that is supported upon the top of the bowl, and an inner perforated cup having a flange that overlaps the flange of the outer cup, whereby the inner cup may be supported by the outer cup and removed independently of the outer cup or both cups removed together by grasping the flange of the outer cup.
2. A tobacco pipe provided with a bowl, an outer ta ering perforated cup having a flange that 1s supported upon the top of the bowl, and an inner tapering perforated cup' having a flange that overlaps the flange of the outer cup, the inner cup tapering to a greater extent than the outer cup and the latter embracing the former throughout a portion of its length with its remaining portion spaced therefrom, the construction and arrangement. being such that the inner cup may be removed independently of the removal of the outer cup or both cups removed together by grasping the flange of the outer Signed by me at New York city, (Manhattan,) N. Y., this 25th day of February,. 1908.
