LIQUID AGTUATED VIBRATOR.
APPLICATION FILI-1D APRIS, 1907.

- LIQUID-Aumentan VIBRATOR.
No. scossa Specealtion of Letters Patent.
Patented June 16, 190e.
1' Appiicaaon filed April 1e, 1907. serial No. 368,542.
To all it mai; concern.' ,f Be itknown that I; CLARENCE H. RICH- wooD, a citizen of the UnitedStates of Amerin Liquid-Actuated a,V and'resident of Boston,4 in the county of Suffolk and State f Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements Vibrators, o which the following is afull, clear, and exact description.
'- 2--2 indicating the operating vibrators electrically,
Thls invention relates to a liquid actuated vibrator in which a water-propelled-wheel 1s comprised Within an inclosed casing, whichcarrles 'an externally located applicator connected with which casing is a pipe fonsupply ingwater under pressure into t ie casing and against, and for securing rotation of, the wleel, and said Wheel is made or provided with an -eccentrically located weight by means o'f which, under the rotations of the wheel, wabbling motions thereof are induced which are communicated to the casing and to the applicator forall desired vibrator-y effectiveness of the latter.
A principal object/of the invention is to produce a vibrator forl facial or other personal' massage which *isv extremely .cheap of production, ca able. 'of being operated from the water 'supp y coming through an ordinary faucet in a bath room, or sleeping room, and renderingunnecessay the expensive apparatus or'equipment heretofore requirer for or -by pneu matic forces, or by combinations Dielectric and pneumatic instrumentalities." The inventi n isl'illustpatcd in the accompanying drawingsj described hereinafter in 'conj uhr-.tuin with such .ln the drawings-Figures 1 and 2 are subvlbratlng device or apparatus, as taken at right angles to eachother, the lines 1 1 and planes on which the respective sections are taken.
Proceeding to describe the device precisely constructed, it is here expressly stated that .minor changes in form and'details may be nuide without departing or sacrificing any of the The vibrator comprises a hollow approximately oval casing A having "flat removable vopposite circular side walls uv (l, and having a rigidly united tubular handle extension :b at its contracted portion c. The said casing has concentrically within its enlarged circular' portion 'e a fixed axle B held or clamped between the opposite side walls, asshown in ternal axle.
drawings, and isde-4 -llned 1n the appended claims from the inventionv advantages thereof.
' Fig. 2 and constructed with screw threaded openings d d i both of its ends. The said casing side walls are provided with outwardly extended hubs j' f axlally coincident with 'the said axlev B; and said hubs have tapered -sockets g g through them communicating with the screw threaded openings d ,in the end of said axle.
Applicators C and C2 are shown in Fig. 2, e same being of different forms and characters for different qualities of massaging effect; and each a phcator is carried by a stem 7e which is' oth tapered and screw threaded so as to be closely tted in and through the tapered hub socket side walls and to nection with the proximate end ,of 'the'inrepresents a water propelled wheel which may be any one ol many types or species of such wheel,-th comprising ag lurality of radially extending bucketed plages or wings i, and the said Wheel 1s .loosely mounted for free rotation upon said axle within the casing and has an eccentrically located weight, as represented at j in the drawing.
lexible'conduit yE,-which is the outlet or liquid discharge conduit of this ap )aratus,is connected with the casing by eing tightly fitted about the tubular handle extension b.
G represents a water supply conduit,\vhich in practice may be rubber pipe, the same being of considerably smaller diameter than thel said discharge conduit, and it is made somewhat longer than the discharge conduit.
.It will be perceived in l1`igl that the casing isnstructed wlth an internal lug Am located adjacent the edge of the water propelled wheel; and a tubular jet plug 'nis screw engaged through said lug and is tangcntiall \r directed relatively .to the wheel. The rubber supply pi e G enters the larger discharge pipe through t e side thereof near, but somewhat removed from the free end of thi` discharge ipe and being continued through the latter as a coupling engagement with the shank of the jet ilug n.
As will e ierccivcd in Fig. l, the supply )ipe G may c connected with an ordinary laucet provided nears. wash bowl ll, while the free end portion o of the discharge pipe may depend into the bowl:- '1.
person grasping the casing the tubular handle extensionb thereof, while the n ofthe casing ,l Y derlve a screw thread conf-f e one in the present instance "Water is turned on at the faucet, may employ the apparatus for Vibratiory massagelon the face or any art of the person, as desirable,n
it being un erstod that the `Water under pressure entering the casing through the pipe G and operating against thewheel D will ,cause rapid rotation' ofthe Wheel7 and because of the provision of the e'ccentrically located Weight (i, the Wheel willrhave an unsteady or WabblingV motion which will 'be communicated to the axle, and the casing Within which the axle is fixed; and to the one or' two Fapplicators, accordingly as to whether a single one or two thereof areV provided.
I clann:'
, A vibrator consisting ol' a hollow approxi? mately oval casing having a rigidly-united i tubular handle extension at "itscontracted' Y portion, said casing having concentrieally within its enlarged portiona fixed axlehawl ing a'screr threaded opening in its end and said casing having one of its side Walls provided with'a hub having a tapered opening Acommunieating `With said screw threaded axle socket7 an ap licator provided with a smaller diameter than said discharge conduit extended through the .latter and into 'the 'easing' and having its delivery end tangentielly directedv edgewise relatively to said' wheel.
