My invention relates to new and useful im- I l'provements in woven bandages and has for its object to provide a bandage which shall have. a selvage at each side, which shall be elastic longitudinally, without curling transversely.
In the drawings :Figure 1 is a top view of a bandage made in accordance wit my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view showing the particular way of laying the warp and the'weft threads.
According to my invention, the bandage is woven in suitable widths for banda es, and these are preferafbly woven on the well ribbon loom. The alternate war threads a, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 are all tig tly twisted in onedirection, while the intermediate warp threads are all tightly twisted in the opposite direction.
The weft' thread b is led back and forth in the ordinary manner, iand is carried around the outermost warp threads, thus making a `tion only, thus making a banda and which shall lie flat l known selvage at each end of the bandage. Said weft thread is preferably loosely twisted.
By the above construction, I provide a bandage, which will lay perfectly flat, with no tendency to curl laterall in view of the fact that certain of the warp t reads are twisted in one direction, while certain others, are twisted in the opposite direction.
I have further provided a bandage which shall -be very elastic in a longitudinal direc* e which has all the advantages of a ban age having caoutchouc threads. I have still further provided a bandage which has a selvage at each edge, which is a great advantage over those bandages having open edges.

An elastic ribbon bandage consisting of alternate warp threads tightly. twisted in the same direction and intermediate warp threads tightly twisted inthe opposite direction, and a contlnuous weft thread which is passed around the outermost warp threads to form a (selvage. Y
