NOSE-RING.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OHARLEs B. WAGNER, Jr. citizen of the United States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Racine and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and .useful Improvements in Nose- Rings, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to improvements in nose rings such as are commonly applied to bulls, or other vicious animals'to rovide a means whereby they may be led from place to place.
The object of the invention is to design a simple and inexpensive ring which is peculiarly constructed so that it can be readily applied to the nose or removed therefrom and which embodies novel means for engaging a rope or like member.
For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved nose ring'. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, parts being broken away and shown in section.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
A nose ring embodying the present invention is formed in hinged sections which are designed to be swung apart when the ring is being applied, and which are provided with means whereby they can be securely connected with each other after the ring has been laced in position.
Re erring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates one of the sections of the ring and the numeral 2 the opposite section, the two sections being pivotally connected at 3 and the section 1 being shown as somewhat larger than the section 2. The free end of the section 1 is extended outwardly as indicated at 4 and has the extremity thereof rounded so as to readily pass through the Specification of Letters Patent.

It will also be observed that this outwardly extended end 4 is designed to receive an eye 5 at the swinging end of the ring section 2 and is formed with a transverse opening adapted to receive a key 6 for locking the two sections of the ring in a closed position. This key may as illustrated in the drawing have a bifurcated formation so that by spreading the arms thereof it can be locked against accidental displacement.
The invention further contemplates novel means for connecting a rope or cable to the ring for the purpose of leading the animal from place to place. An eye 7 is loosely connected to the ring and this result is accomplished in the preferred embodiment of the invention by providing the eye with a stem 8 which has a swiveled connection with the section 2 of the ring. It will thus be apparent that by swinging the sections 1 and 2 apart the ring can be readily applied to the nose of the. animal or removed therefrom, and that the eye 7 forms a convenient means for attaching a r0 e to the ring should it be desired to lead t e animal from place to place or to tie it in a permanent position.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A nose ring comprising hinged sections, the free end of one of the sections being extended outwardly while the free end of the opposite section is for1ned with an eye designed to receive the said outwardly extended end of the first mentioned section.
2. A nose ring comprising apair of hinged sections, the free end of one of the sections being extended outwardly while the free end of the o posite section is formed with an eye designe to receive the said outwardly extending end of the first mentioned section, and a key for holding the two sections in engagement with each other.
