UNITE 1? FFICE.
EDWARD PARO, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
BELLOWS.
Application filed January 20, 1908.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD PARO, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bellows, of which the followtion.
ing is a specification.
Bellows, as commonly constructed, have a nozzle attached or connected to the leather or flexible sides of the air chamber, and this construction has the defect that leaks are apt to occur where the said flexible material. is joined to the nozzle.
The object of the present invention is to avoid this defect, and this object is effected by mounting the nozzle upon one of the plates, with a hole therethrough leading to the nozzle.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of a bellows so constructed. Fig. 2 is a side view partly in sec- Fig. 3 is a detail of the nozzle removed from the bellows.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6

and it has a depending nipple 13 which fits within. a hole formed in the plate 6 to receive it. One of the plates has the usual inlet valve 14 therein, and the nozzle has a suitable outlet valve 15 therein, which operate in a well known manner.
By the construction shown the leather sides 9 may extend continuously around the plates and have no joints subject to wear and strain incident to the manipulation of the device. In the old construction the continued bend of the leather where it was joined to the nozzle piece soon resulted in cracks and leakage around the mouth, but by mounting the nozzle upon one of the plates this objectionable result is avoided, and the bellows will last indefinitely. The construction is also considerably cheaper, and particularly a saving of time and labor is effected in assembling the parts.
I claim:
A bellows provided witha hole in one of the plates thereof, and a nozzle comprising a base mounted on the plate and fastened thereto around said hole, a nipple projecting inwardly from the base into said hole, a pipe projecting outwardly from the base, and an outlet valve in the nozzle, between the nipple and the pipe.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD PARO.
