Description

PATENTED MAY 5, 1908.

APPLICATION I ILED FEB. 20, 1908.
1n: NDRRIS rsrzws cc., WASHINGTON, n. c.
OTTOMAR ROTHENGATTER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
KIT CHE N-RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 5, 1908.
Application filed February 20, 1908. Serial No. 416,824.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTOMAR ROTHENGAT- TER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Kitchen-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved kitchen rack for supporting a number of pot lids or other utensils in a convenient, neat and reliable manner.
In'the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved kitchen rack; Fig. 2 a side view of the clasps, and Fig. 3 a perspective view of such clasp.
The rack is composed preferably of a single length of wire returned upon itself to form two strands 1(') and 11. These strands are intertwisted into a straight stem 12, an integral upper triplex eye 13, and a similar lower eye 14, the eyes serving to receive nails by which the device is secured to a wall or other support. One of the strands, say strand 11, is, at suitable intervals, deflected or bent first upwards and outwards as at 15; then into a loop 16; then in a curve across stem 12, as at 17; then into a loop 18, and then inwards and downwards as at 19, to
again merge into the stem. In this way the stem is made integral with a series of parallel superposed resilient clasps projecting from the stem at equal intervals. The construction of the clasp is such that the rear or cross bar 17 is set back or spaced from front or side bars 15, 19, so that each of the loops 16, 18, is open.
In use, a pot lid or other utensil 20 is slipped into the loops 16, 18, between side bars 15, 19, and cross bar 17. As the clasp is resilient, the lid will thus become securely seated, while it may be readily withdrawn by a slight forward pull.
I claim:
A kitchen rack composed of a stem, and a series of wire clas s projecting from said stem, each of said 0 asps being composed of a pair of diverging front arms, and a curved. rear arm interlooped with the front arms, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at New York city, (Manhat- 5 tan,) Y., this 19th day of February, 1908.
OTTOMAR ROTHENGATTER.
