To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE C. EGLY, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, 'Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Knitting-Machine Needle, of which the following is. a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in knitting machine needles, ofthat class having an integral off-set below the butt. I have devised a novel construction of needle wherein I dispense with the brass sleeve or s acing device attached to the.butt of the nee 1e andin lieu thereof form an integral off-set below the needle butt, since I extend the needle butt downwardly and laterally and then u wardly and bendtheupward terminal of t esame at or near the extremity thereof, thereby providing. a slight off-set, whereby the desired function is' attained.

To the above ends, m inventionconsists of a needle comprising a 0d portion havingits butt deflected downwar v y, laterally an upwardly, the jterminal of said upward extension being provided with an oil-set whereb a needle of superior utility can be efficientl produced, and will-not be liable to get out 0 order.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-

1. As an improved article of manufacture, aknitting needle having a butt, a portion of s aid bntt being deflected downwardly and thence laterally in roximity to and parallel with the butt and thence upwardly at a distance from said downwardly deflected portion, the terminal of the u ward extension bein%1provided.with an 0 set out of the plane of t e butt and out of the plane of the downwardly deflected portion.
